15000 Members !! 16000 Member Mark !!!

Felicidades

Congratulations.
I never thought there could be so many people making scale model ships. Incredible.
Where I am living I only know one person who do it.... and here we are more than 13000.
And here I thought I was a weirdo: we are more than 13000 weirdos

I suppose one of the admin’s will change the tittle of this thread :), because on this last day of the year the SoS have a new member mark:

I could not get the 15.000st on the point, but a great level to start the upcoming New Year 2024.
Best Wishes to all of you.

Wouldn't it be great if we got 15,000 messages per week? Hey you quiet LURKER guys! Show us what you're building!
I think you are joking. if this happens many old timers will leave- It may be SAD to see about 60 to max. 100 members online. all the rest are guest

I wish you a Happy New Year to You and your Family and all members.
will add a beautiful image of what 2023 has been to my family and myself

( think about that Joushua Slocum sailed around the world in a sailing boat near the same size about 140 Years ago -without the tech, instruments there are today)

As the Admin, I agree with @Peter Voogt, that it is a wonderful number to start a New Year! Congrats to all! However, as a member, I wish more members could be active, 500... I agree with Kurt @DARIVS ARCHITECTVS

It is always a wonder why people sign up for the forums and never post. Hmmm....I wish to know...

There is no secret, that I from the beginning have been against that many members. I have just had a look at the statistics here at 16,30 hours today - GMT plus ONE- 84 members active and 1.111 ????.watsing or gust: this gives a total of about 1200 -where are the rest??. There is a long way to go until 14000. I do not think that it is to be proud: SORRY. I know very well that I am not one back-slicker.

Is that because you feel there would be too many threads to read each day? I can understand if one would feel overwhelmed if there were 1,000 posts to read each day.

I was thinking about this ,if 1000 members posts every day ,who would read them ??only a certain group ,there is a limit ,also larger number of posts need to be moderated

Well, at the risk of being overwhelmed with too much to read, I would like it if more of the lurkers posted pictures and comments on their builds. Everyone wins when that happens.

Moderation is the problem of moderators, we would get more moderators. :p But, everyone could find an interesting topic of his own, as long as this topic exists. Also, you don't have to be just a reader, you could be a writer... as well ;)

I love this site, and the way the administration staff look after it. However, even if 15000 members wrote articles and posted photos I would not be interested in reading them all. I'm on the site 2 or 3 times a day and only read the articles of the types of ships / boats or subject matter that interests me.

Keep up the good work, and Happy New Year To All Members.

Jim

Maybe we should rethink about the name of this thread ……..
We are already over 16,000!!! :)

Given the growth, we can continue to change every few months. ;)
For me it’s not a problem, it remains nice to see that so many builders appreciate this site.

Though I am a very new member I just cant believe how lucky I was to find this forum. I have learned so much in a very short time and continue to be impressed with how everyone is so willing to help out, and the high quality of the builds I see every day! Just a great place to learn the hobby. Thanks to all.

I agree with swampdweller.

Also, I dont like the term 'lurkers'.. it has a creepy, negative connotation.
I think there is nothing wrong with people signing up and reading/learning from 'posters'.
That is one (the main?!) purpose of a place like this.
Most people, including me, don't have much to say, but a lot to learn.
And I'm sure 'lurkers' silently appreciate the sense of community, the interesting topics,
the new perspectives, the pretty pictures, the joking around, and the treasure trove of knowledge on this forum.
I certainly do.
