HMS Victory - Heller by Larry

There are other drawings showing the ropes attached to the mast and yards
-> maybe the different colours are showing the same rope - so reading two drawings at once....
 
I thought it would mean different size threads...the chart and reference shows one size thread on most placement..size.JPG
 
Hoy, welcome aboard. You're going to love this site! Heres a photo of a print that might be useful. I would recommend getting the detailed book on construction and detail rigging instructions from Hismodel.com. I'm collecting sails, blocks, flags, guns and brass bleating pins from that site.
Note the direction of the flags, matching the direction of the wind. Zoom in on the photo, you can see the signal flags and placement of them that were hoisted in the battle of Trafalgar.

Welcome here. The colors could have two meanings: either just to make them easier to distinguish or it has to deal with the thickness of the line, but then it should be mentioned somewhere in the manual.

The kit came with 2 sets of ropes..and some ..wire lengths??..I am sure I need regular thread.
The large instruction booklet looks precise for the experienced modeler.Rope numbers and sequence etc.
I looked at the Amati thread set on the web and it looks like that would be the one to get.
The paints I guess would be Testors..and some colors would have to be mixed to achieve the proper color.
What I learned from assembling the ships was to look a few steps ahead before I set the glue.
I have looked at some sites on the web and some pictures of the Victory are very impressive.
Any insight such as other specialty tools or books from your group would be very much appreciated as I am yet to begin.

Hello Sir, did you check the accessories for this model at Hismodle.com? Scroll down and click on Heller 1/100 HMS Victory. I would recommend the rigging thread package and the large blue detail building/rigging book for this model. All kinds of upgrade parts are available from this site.
