The Druid Build [COMPLETED BUILD]

Working on the Masts, and finishing the Bow Sprint, Fore, Main, and Mizzen, I have been studying the next step in the process of the rigging hardware. The instruction and illustration sheets are not good !! I am not an expert in this area and is my weak spot!:( figuring out where the blocks go and the eye mounts, for the bow sprint and masts, will take some time and patience, expecting to make and error or two, but I will study the drawings as close as I can! A block on one side means a block on the other?. the illustrations for all the yard's hardware and blocks are great it's just the Masts. where the info is limited

finished the first set of yards for the foremast, I cheated a little on the vertical foot rope holds as I made them from wire, not as per plan but for me works great. to rig the blocks and the foot ropes to the yards I drilled holes through the yard fed the twine through the drilled holes and wrapped them around the yard covering the the drilled hole to look like they are tied again worked great and looks good!! well, its been a while since I posted anything on my Druid Build!! Had some lower back issues that I had to address and they seem to have gone away!! second I Have been deciding on how to approach the construction of the chain plates for the deadeyes. The kit sure did not make that very easy to do! not only make them but make them all the same length :rolleyes: I had to make a jig to make the wire loops as the plates are in 3 parts. 2 wire loops and a mounting plate!! I am glad that is completed as I have been putting off for a month:oops: I am also just about completed with the masts and yard blocks and foot ropes still have a few odds and ends to finish. I think I will rig as much as possible and install the yards to the masts before installing the masts to the ship. seems to be the way to go? been looking for a serving machine, and stumbled on this one from Syren Servo Matic looks like it is made well from 1/4 maple The other one I purchased years ago that I have in my shop in the Philippines worked fine but was fairly cheap. ciost with shipping was m$68.00 not bad! servo10.jpg.opt894x566o0,0s894x566.jpg
 
started on the standing rigging and some yard work. decided to work on the lower masts and yards and work my way up the masts. I am learning to really think about what pieces to install and which ones to wait when rigging as it can create more work than needed as I have found out already!! as with the yard lift rigging, as I call it. but I am moving along, concentrating on one line at a time so the job does not become overwhelming as rigging can do. working on the masts, yards, and standing rigging, and will finish up tomorrow on the Mizzen, the plans are very vague in the details area. makes it hard to figure out exactly which fitting to use on some areas?? the picture is not great, needs a solid background, Oh WELL :rolleyes: I have also been looking at my next project, I think I will build a schooner I looked at the le Le Requin POF, looks very tedious and expensive!! So I decided to build the French Masticque from ZHL more in my price range and I want to go back to double plank on bulkhead, The Druid satisfied my pof venture for a while.IMG_20240525_195831408.jpg
 
winding down on the shrouds and ratlines, of all the parts of a ship model this area is the most time-consuming and tedious for me, not my favorite!! the Druid Kit came with a shroud and ratline jig but used my tried and true shroud jig to maintain the same deadeye length. I have finished the Druid Build:) It has been a learning experience and a test of my resolve! The main thing is I am happy with the results, and look forward to my next build which is the ZHL 1:50 scale Royal Caroline regular pob double plank, I enjoyed the POF kit but I prefer the double plank on bulkhead!! Gilbert yes put many hours into it, it took around 7 or 8 months nothing like the Le Soleil Royal!!! The Druid was fairly straight forward, heading back to the Philippines and will finish my Le Soleil,
