Makes total sense. This is something to remember. Still needs to be finished off with some precision tools.
Not me!!! Hope there's an extinguisher near by!!! Assuming this idea was supposed to be serious, practically speaking there would have to be a LOT of irons made as the shape of the ports varied with the location. The below shows the shapes of just three ports on Diana (38) 1794 as an example. Add this to the overall sizes being different at every deck level on larger ships, there would need to be dozens of different irons for a first rate. Lots of chances to make a bonfire.

I should have mentioned it was a reel which came up from Vietnam Ship Models who do sell their models. There was another video of them tying ratlines, but I thought it too traumatic to post. I guess you get what you pay for!
They make the kind of decor models you find at Keg Crate & Barrel or on the back wall of a seafood restaurant. Their goal is cheap mass production, not authenticity.

if you're being paid nonpence a day to produce something the westerners are going to buy whatever the quality. . . .
Lots of old ship models, such as made in the c19th were produced to sell for pennies and keep the old men in clothes, baccy, a roof, and some ale. Tourists go for them as 'charming'

Wood plus glue and high heat, I do not thing so !

What a great photo! Wonderful piece of modelling, with convincing water and evocative reflection painted in. Did you set it up in your workshop?
