HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

I hope you recover quickly !
There are construction gloves that are light weight and have a resistance to cutting. I wear one on my left hand only (I'm right handed) when I'm holding a piece of wood that I'm cutting. It has saved me many times. They are by Milwaukee tools and I got them at Home Depot for those that have those stores locally. :)

Wearing gloves while ship modeling!?!?! You would be horrified if you saw the way I work, Jeff! My job site is definitely not OSHA approved!

LOL Only on my off hand that is supporting what I'm cutting. I can't wear it all the time while modeling. You get used to it. I would think that with your profession, you would want to look into it and try it. I mean, unless you are looking for reasons to take a "vacation". ROTF

Blood-red gunports.
Another low-cost project;).
For gun ports that might be even some cost saving, bun gun carriages will require more of that liquid and more stitches;)
... and that's why they painted the ports and bulwarks red! You're not supposed to notice the, um, fluid leakage, and just keep on goin'!

All the best in your recovery my friend!
Good evening Guys. It was worth a go….cost of blood red gunports… zeroROTF

It was not too bad, just a few stitches and lesson learned.
Good healing of your injury, Grant!
Thomas
Bummer about the injury, Grant :(.
Ouch....get better, bro! We need those fingers...be careful.
Hi Grant! Sorry to hear that. I wish you the fastest recovery.
Grant, hope it heals quickly and you can get back to building soon
Thank you gentlemen. It’s the first proper cut I’ve had in my short shipbuilding journey. Hopefully not too many more.
A build with up’s and down’s, Grant. Wish you a quick recovery and hopefully you can do some building with your stitched finger.
Regards, Peter
Hi Peter. I have had the best time since I started this build, until these gunports. There is no doubt it would be better to make these with the frame construction (as a real ship would) but not possible with this Admiralty design…..plenty swear barrels full and I’m only 7 out of 24ROTF.
As always Grant superb work.
Thank you kindly John.

Hi Jeff. Thank you. I’m with Paul - I am a “just go for it” modeler and certainly not OHS (in SA terms) approved. True story about Paul’s hands and the only vacation Paul wants is a beach holiday ROTF …..I know how much he loves doing nothing on a beach;).

Here are some pics :

That Guinness is the best medical to take, just asked the Irish.
Legit build log now!!

Blood spilled...Guinness flowing.

Thanks for sharing the reality of ship modeling, gunport construction and South African self-medicationBeer!!
What size line did they use to tie you up? Looks like it would make good seizing material.:)
Allan
Allan, as such a stickler for historical accuracy, how could you possibly suggest using purple thread as seizing line? ;)
First, we would need to figure which period his fingers belong to ROTFROTFROTFROTF
This takes scratch building to a whole other level...
No blood, no fun ROTF at least you know that crooked ports are not knife's fault...
ROTFROTF. Thanks guys. Nothing like a laugh to brighten up a rainy cold (well for us) day here in Melkbosstrand. Cheers Grant
