HMY Fubbs stern section from Weaselworks

I probably won’t be posting many pictures today. I’m just sanding char and faring frames. I’ve got 88 pieces to do. That might be repetitive. View attachment 532197
What is the old joke, "Pete and Repeat were sitting on the bench, grinding char, then Pete fell off, and who was left? Repeat!"

Rolling sandpaper around a dowel to get at the curved surfaces better. I’m using 400 and 800 grit to finish it off View attachment 532256
Good evening Vic. Oh boy I know that brown dust too well. After a while you get rather used to getting rid of char and shaping those frames. Looking good. Cheers Grant

I’m beginning to wonder what the attraction is for POF builds.
The main attraction for POF builds is to show internal details in sections and structural models. POB builds are faster and easier to build. They are a good way to start building model ships. A POB stern section would be a strange looking model LOL.

True statement. But it is pretty labor intensive. It does give me a reason to buy a new drum sander though.

Hi. Vic, when I built my Fubbs Stern Section I clamped the end of the shop vac hose with a small piece of perforated bench mat attached to the hose with a rubber band to prevent the part from going into the sander to the sander. It catches the dust before it goes everywhere. Happy sanding!

That sounds better than buying a dust collection system. I’ll give this a try.
