Looks like the old German metal hull square sail training ships from just before WWII, that one is now the USCG Eagle.

Was reading a bit about it. The Kaiwo Maru is a replica built in 1969 I think. Not sure of its history but will learn more once I start the ship. I'm not in a big hurry.
