Sovereign of the Seas - Sergal 1:78 (with hopefully many added details)

Hi all,

After
having spent almost six years working on this project I was so, at this post's thread, hoping to focus on finally finishing this build, AND sharing some final images, not having someone focus and bring up a very unrelated and untimely tiny detail issue and creating a continuous sub thread...

Had it been brought up and discussed during that phase of this log -- many posts ago -- would have indeed been a very positive , and appreciated topic.

OK I am being a bit sensitive, but I feel not exactly peaceful about this very unrelated focus and posts by a couple of members that AT THIS stage for me felt as untimely constructive criticism about one small single area of detail. BTW - I will change nothing, right or wrong this build is done!

As soon as I click post reply I'm sure that I will regret doing so -- Yikes -- That said, thank you so much for many of you dropping by with so many really overwhelmingly positive remarks about how this build turned out in general.

That, of course, is the focus we all like when finishing a build - as well as SO appreciating constructive learning as a log is in its progress getting feedback from others regarding accuracy one way or another during the logs work....

Sincerely

Hi all,

It’s display location is a compromise. Though it did (PTWT) pass the wife test.

I purchased the base stand at Amazon - it’s a TV watching dinner table - didn’t know you could still sit on the side of the bad to have dinner?

So, I’m three for three.

Sovereign fits there OK - but does encroach with my other hobby collection location.

Santisima cross section was always intended to live there and it is also close to the rum haha

Vasa location was chosen by both of us - thought all family photos etc. had to be moved --- hmmmm

===================

Current Oseberg build - fireplace mantle would be an overkill. And I’ve been advised as much by the Admiral - all good.

====================

So, goodbye to this log of six years - now to be lost in Cyberspace.

wow. those models look great!

Huge congratulations, John! To see a six-year journey come to fruition like this is deeply inspiring. As someone who is barely five hours into my very first kit, looking at your finished masterpiece gives me both a massive sense of awe and a true appreciation for the patience this hobby requires. Brilliant work, and an incredible achievement!

Thanks so much
- Enjoying this hobby so much I've learned a lot from following logs as well as asking for help and getting great "how to"advice along the way.

In closing this entire log - I'd like to, as well share some images of the other two that have found a nice place to reside along with the Sovereign
Vasa-- was a Corel kit - also bashed, and added sails using rigging plans from other sources. Some detail images;

WOW! Very nice John, I see you have a wide range of models. You're going to have to squeeze an Oseberg in there somewhere :D

Daniel,

Oseberg will create some real estate issues with the Admiral. Fireplace mantle would be nice - but I don't also don't want to turn our living room into a model ship
museum :mad:

OK ALL DONE HERE

HUGE thanks to all members who followed this very long build log - and thanks to the many of you who just dropped by for a look

See Ya

Now onto Oseberg - all new learning (I hope)

Sincerely
