I’ve been working on this very beautiful model for quite some time now, undergoing a very elaborate restoration and reconstruction. This model, too, is a complete homemade build based on very good plans. The original can be seen at the Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven.

It’s the legendary Dutch cargo sailing ship, the galleot “Die Stadt Elbing 1738,” on a 1:50 scale. This model comes very close to the original.
It isn’t fully restored yet; that will still take some time. Here are a few photos showing the current stage of completion!

Ich denke, dass dieses Forum höchste Anschauungs- und Vorbildlichkeit hat! Auch bemerke ich, dass hier ein sehr gepflegter Umgangston und Hilfestellung gegeben ist. Dafür bin ich Euch sehr dankbar.

Made of plastic?

This Le Soleil Royal is a very complex plastic model kit that I’ve completely modified. For example, the sails are all made of fabric and hand-sewn.

I replaced the rigging with high-quality hemp twine. I also crafted many parts out of wood. I experimented a lot with colors to achieve the most realistic look possible.

Das Tauwerk habe ich durch sehr gute Hanfgarne ersetzt . Ich habe auch viele Teile aus Holz gefertigt . Farblich habe ich viel experimentiert um ein möglichst realistisches Aussehen zu ermöglichen .
