HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

Thank you very much Paul. This build has been a self inflicted challenge (a very enjoyable one) at every turn which is everything we can ask for. ;) .

Good morning Paul. I’m using 4 different options to get some shades of cherry.
1. On the frames and beams etc I use polyurethane Matt ( water based).
2. the bulkwarks and cannon ports I use a more redder cherry stain (Woodoc Gel stain).
I give this one coat of polyurethane.
3. Where I want a more richer, darker cherry I use linseed oil ( this is dust magnet and drives me nuts) e.g cannon carriages and panels on the removable bulkheads. No polyurethane.
4. Indian ink for black.

It has been a vertical learning using stains only and many errors have been made- e.g. my cut outs where the maple edges show, the red cherry just won’t go into the maple and the red is different. Not too visible but of course I see it all the time.

Good morning Bill. Thank you kindly. I’m definitely still in the kadet class, no longer a rookie however continue to make multitude rookie errorsROTF. I look at some of the guys build and ask “how on earth do they do that”.

Good morning Stephan. True story my ship is full of humanities ROTF. Yea I didn’t think of putting a treenail in my carriageROTF. I now have a beam over it so a musket hole shall remain.

Cheers Grant
Thankyou!!

Good morning.
You guys know those days where shipbuilding steals our time…..that was yesterday afternoon and last night. So much fun.

Continued with quartedeck beams, ledges and knees. Just followed the kit plan. Plenty historical inaccuracies which I am happy to live with.

included the second panel removable bulkhead - made two open doors for fun:

added some Grant hinges- IMG_9625.jpegIMG_9623.jpeg
Pics of knees- (I had to use a flash here)
IMG_9642.jpegIMG_9640.jpeg
What ledges and knees look like sanded. Whew I have plenty to do.
IMG_9606.jpeg
Some close up pics from the front with panelling.
IMG_9589.jpegIMG_9590.jpegIMG_9598.jpeg
You will note the one window I destroyed the internal frames…..oops ROTF :rolleyes:ThumbsupExplosion:eek:.
Also got to love “Grants perfect” notches….ROTF. Hey they look really good until I macro them- my hand skills not so good.

I am going to pause building the quarter deck section here fit some effective dust sheets and finish the sanding while I also move to the bow section…….just because I can…ROTF.

Cheers Grant

The beams and panel are looking very nice, Grant. And with the open door it’s a special edition, the ‘Grant Special’.
Regards, Peter

Grant,
Beyond Brilliant indeed!!!
Hello, GrantTyler.
This is a wonderful piece of work.
You’re truly a master of the craft, worthy of being displayed at the Maritime History Museum.Ship-1
We’ll use this as a reference for our future shipbuilding projects.
Thank you very much.:)
Good morning guys. I normally reply individually, however I am being demanded by Bronwyn, my business partner, so just a huge thank you for the compliments and encouragement.
Cheers Grant

Oh man Grant, I hate it when a whole month or longer goes by and I haven't visited your build. All I can say is she's a true beauty; I really like your canon rigging and the overall stain and wood color choice just make her one of your finest builds.
Good morning Daniel. It is good to show something coming together a little after 16 months of WIP. I always appreciate you checking out my ships. thanks.
Cheers Grant

Don't know how to read this.
Is it: Doing some catching up. Grant and the ship looks great! I can agree with that statement ROTF
Good morning Stephan.
Us South Africans and Americans don't speak the "Queens English"....we use abbreviated speak with little grammar but understand this lingoROTF ......other than Paul (@dockattner ) of course...ROTF - however if I remember correctly his Mom was an English teacher?
Cheers Grant
