Už teraz je jasné, že vaše ozdobné rezby budú úžasné vďaka dôkladnej príprave. Myslím, že ste zvládli tú najťažšiu časť, teraz už len zostáva zábava.

Holy mackerel! I can't believe you cut those shapes with a hand scroll saw. You must have the patience of Job. Even with my power scroll saw, I'd be doing tons of cleanup with files and sanding sticks. Impressive.

Enjoy your time off.
Hi Peter,

It did take a little bit of time but not unreasonably so. The worst part was the cramping in my 'hold-down' hand. You can cut right on the line if you do this with a jeweler's saw (or whatever that thing should be called).

GREAT Start!!

Careful with that one on the bottom row, 2nd from the right. That occlusion or, "cavity" for you dental folk, may become problematic with any detail in that area.

Ask me how I know ROTF !

Enjoy your little holiday!!
Good eye, Brad. But that part is just a handle - it's the tiny blob on the bottom that goes on the model.

My son tells me the fishing has been bad 'up north' - but it's been unseasonably warm so perhaps a cool down will help. Fingers crossed.

Hello modeling friends. Not much to report on my end. I have been pretty busy with my hobby job (sadly, not at all busy in my paying job) - then my basement flooded - and then there are all the outdoor projects...you understand.

I was going to defer ALL the decorative carvings for later, but there are really quite a lot of them so I decided to tackle the carvings that adorn the lower portion of the quarter galleries next. This seems like a great time to tune up my decorative carving skills and establish some good work practices. As I mentioned previously, I have begun to doubt my ability to pull this (the artistic carvings) off - but we are more than one year in on this build, so I have little choice but to press on.

I will be using a boxwood from South Africa for the carvings. I'll need to decide if they need some sort of staining/finish to blend in with the pearwood used on the rest of the build at some point...but first I need to create them...

Here are the carving blanks for the lower portion of the quarter gallery:

I'll be on holiday for a bit so there will be a brief pause in this blog.

There are some pretty special builds going on right now - I hope you are taking the time to explore what our forum has to offer!
impressive work Paul

Enjoy your vacation
