Good morning. After filling plenty swear jars …….I mean plenty, I think my fight with this Frigate ended in stalemate.

Some pics- final sanding of the beams, carlings, knee tops etc still to be done: looks a bit raw at this stage.

Hello Lorenzo. Gesondheid, Proost Beer Beer . Afrikaans for cheers mate.
Looks great from this continent Grant!
Thanks Russ.
Done? As in: done, done? I thought there was going to be a parade or fireworks! This is a magnificent model, Grant! Let's at least have a braai!
Good morning Paul .Thank you kindly. More like I'm done arguing with my Frigate on this fore deck section. Some finishing, few added details still to come. having a braai on Sunday for the admirals birthday. I will have a Dalwhinnie or two for getting through this section.:D.........just for you...ROTF.
Well done, Grant. And so many details to see.
Regards, Peter
Good morning Peter. Thanks very much....I do as many details as I feel comfortable making. I'm not in your category (....yet.....) where every minute detail is achievable.:D.
Sounds like your construction is finished except for final sanding, with touch ups? I'm looking forward to her final presentation.
Good morning Daniel. Yep, the all the beams, carlings (except those around the stove chimney for which I have to some research), knees etc on this section of the deck are done. Some 220 grit sanding and sealing will come later.
Cheers
Grant

magnificent work!!!
very accurate

Incredible details and craftmanship! I love that you show you minor discrepancies, like the scupper location, which NONE of us would ever notice! Proves you are human, like the rest of us.

I have to keep a keen eye out, as I get dropped from your log frequently and miss updates. :( :(

Thanks for such detailed photos of your amazing work, they are inspiring!

Good morning everyone. Whew the guys are busy on the forum……nice.

Eish! My struggles compounded with this fore deck beam installation. I change the kit a lot and this often causes knock on effects. Grants modelling is exposed ROTF .

Finished the stove, added extra hinges and levers. I attempted blackening but couldn’t get this right- used a metal spray paint in the end….:(

Two more cannon:
View attachment 621937View attachment 621938
……then POF modelling gave me a beating:
I got the beams etc mostly in line as I use a plum line when building:
View attachment 621939
The blunders:
Something went wrong with my measurements laying my Deck clamp…..
View attachment 621940
My second last beam is marginally too low. Maybe I can sand this ?

My deck clamps are about 0.5mm too low

My main riding bit is scew. This is going to be fun redoing this….Speechless

Looks stunning. Personally a few defects adds a bit of "unique" character! I find that trying to make alterations after the fact usually ends up with more coins in the swear box!

Dom

Good morning Gentlemen. Apologies for the late reply- it has been an interesting weekROTF.
I don't know weather I should congratulate you or suggest further work. Anyway, this is a magnificent build no matter how you finish her.
At least add deadeyes;)
Thank you for the compliment- it is much appreciated. Ahh there is along way to go and channels and deadeyes will find away into this build sometime…….:D:D.
magnificent work!!!
very accurate
Thank you kindly Shota

Help Brad, where ever your travels have taken you. Thank you for this. One of my favourite bands - The Parletones (a South African group) have a song “I’m only human after all”. Definitely applies to my attempts at building shipsROTF.

Thank you kindly Dom. If I had to show you guys all my defects I would add a 100 pages to my logROTF. Thank you kindly for the encouragement. Cheers Grant

Good morning everyone. I have had some time this week to play on my ship- not much tho.

Pretty much more of the same- more deck beams, knees etc and cannons. This time on the quarter deck.
Just some pics :

For ease of building and final sanding of the beams, I decided to cut the capstan in two. If I put the upper deck portion on it will look like this- I don’t like the kit base so I will change this much later.
IMG_0107.jpeg
The scupper holes I make from 2.5mm brass rod, flatten to make a bit of a flange. Blacken just once to keep in line with the look of the ship. I couldn’t bend this to the shape of waterway, however they look ok.

Some nice inside pictures, nicely added details and ongoing rigging, Grant.

Wow, I just love the detail, Grant. Especially the through bolts in the hanging knees and not to mention the waterway drain scuppers.
Magnificent results Grant, I love the "below deck" pictures; beautiful rigged canons.
Grant,

From now on I will just copy and paste all of the superlative comments from others' posts

I've run out of other thoughts that might be added to this brilliant log...

Big Cheers!!!!

Good morning Gentlemen. Thank you very much. I am enjoying my ship and your involvement in my journey makes it more so.

Good morning.
Just some more of the same- I installed the remaining cannon with breech lines……still have to rig 10 ……Eish. Total procrastination ROTF .

I took this pic to show my marvellous immaculate perfect alignment….ROTFROTFROTF. I can live with the multiple little inconsistencies however the arrow shows my middle grating and corresponding deck planks being a problem child . I can’t believe I haven’t noticed this - I hardly see this with the naked eye- Eish a redo coming up..
Cheers Grant
