Hi All

Yesterday I received my ICTINEO-II kit developed by TRIDENT. I ordered it through Dry-Dock Models and in arround 3-4 weeks the submarine was delivered. All was smooth as always when I buy something from Dry-dock Models. Just be prepared to pay the US TARIFFS (grrrrrr). I need to pay $27 to DHL when the kit arrived to USA. Not really a big deal, but was almost a 10% of the kit price.

The kit arrived perfectly packed. And in 1 week since I received shipping confirmation. Great Job by Trident and DHL.

I will post all the box content below. 2 points that I would like to comment.

- All the small metal parts have "letters" to identify them. KUDOS FOR THAT !!!. And their quality is EXCELLENT!!

- The wood used for all the planking does not have the same color.

I am not sure if that will show as a 3 colored sub when they are all glued or will mix and you will not notice it. If it is noticeable, I will need to select a colored varnish (not clear one) to unify the 3 wood colors. Let's see how this end during the built. (IMAGE INCLUDED at the end showing what I meant).

BTW...manual is in English !!!!20260815_120534.jpg20260815_120606.jpg20260815_120623.jpg20260815_120922.jpg20260815_120927.jpg20260815_121257.jpg20260815_121319.jpg20260815_121328.jpg20260815_121348.jpg20260815_121423.jpg20260815_121432.jpg20260815_121540.jpg20260815_153558.jpg20260815_153749.jpg20260815_153834.jpg20260815_153925.jpg20260815_154309.jpg20260815_154809.jpg

Bottom line, this kit LOOKS GREAT !!! And I am sure it will be a lot of fun to built it.

There is already a build thread at SOS. And, I am sure, we can count with the support of TRIDENT, that is an active member at SOS, for technical questions.

I will start this built immediately after my Endurance built.

Cheers to all,
Daniel

Daniel, how exciting! I have never seen kit plans for a sub! I can't wait for you to start. I'm in the second row behind Jeff and Steven. Magic Mike

You will be very welcome.

In the meantime, haven't you seen my 2 versions of the EFIM NIKONOV submarine? Below my signature are the SOS links.

Cheers

I'm subscribing to the thread too:
I know the Ictineo II quite well! :)
Ekis you will be welcome too.

Interesting that you know the ictineo II well. Would you be so kind to share your knowledge when I start my build thread in the near future.

Guys, you will have to give me a few months to finish my actual project. I will all of you keep updated.

Best
Daniel

Well, not many of us have taken an interest in this ship.
Starting with a very poor Russian kit, I tried to turn it into an acceptable model by basing my work on plans and archives from the period.
If I recall correctly, I believe Trident examined this model (and a few others) when designing their own kit. ;)

Subscribing and look forward to your build log of this unique vessel!!

Well, with your experience and skills I am sure I will be learning a lot from your comments and suggestions.

I am pushing now the Endurance built to get it done ASAP.

Cheers
Daniel

Daniel,

Glad that still got a front row seat. Will follow along as well. Such a great departure example of our popular kits.
