Synopsis:

MACHINE FOR DREDGING PORTS

Since human have created ports, the have faced the problem of their maintenance. For that, he invented a primitive machine but finally succeeded and already modern since it will exist for more than three centuries without really evolving. The port curing machine will be removed from the ports only by the arrival of steam and bucket dredges.
During its long existence, it will maintain the ports of the kingdom so that the "Great Navy" can be maintained and refueled in the best conditions.
This monograph is a tribute to the anonymous servitude construction which, by their modest but necessary tasks, have discreetly participated in the history of the Navy.
The book consists of a booklet with 72 pages, that includes the description and operation of the machine and the comments of the 10 drawing plates with 55 photos of a model and its construction steps. The plates are 1/36 scale and present all the pieces of the vessel

Comment and Review:

This planset is very special, better the vessel described. The vessel was one of the working horses of every Navy, especially with ports where the tide is going up and down and bringing a lot of sediments into the rivers and ports. Without these vessels a normal use of the historic ports were not possible. I am pretty sure, that Nelson or Admiral Villeneuve were not recognizing them, when they passed such a vessel with their flagships.....so we have to be very happy, that Gerard and some contemporary draughtsmen in the past produced drawings and paintings, so we can remember

To say it in short words.....
For everybody interested in machines and technics related to naval subjects it is a highly interesting and very complete documentation to build a beautiful and rare model.
For every beginner or intermediate experienced scratch modeler it is a highly recommended planset, due to the fact, that there are not very complicated hull-curvatures to be made. It is a flat bottom hull.....also no jig for the hull is necessary!

So especially for the reasonable price and the above mentioned points I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND this planset

Hello Uwek,

I must admit that the ingenuity behind the development and construction of these vessels is quite remarkable. I wonder if they got to this level of sophistication from an original concept such as the attached photo. It is food for thought.

Great Thanks yes this is what I am wishing for . It would be a great model and a great conversation piece too Since nobody is offering such a kit it would be a nice addition to our stash and or a fine building project

Hi, Don (@donfarr ) Despite her unattractive hull form, and lack of battery decks - this model is an ideal candidate for the first model from scratch. Thanks to simple hull lines, simple settings and most importantly, there is no rigging!

I think it muh easier

I think much easier than the Blandford and Le Rochefort

Hi All, My bigest concern is the wheel how to make it it seems like that is a model unto itself.
The wheel is not the most difficult part of this model. It is made from multiple pieces forming the circle. But the design is much simplified, planking should be easy -straight lines.

The big advantage of this model is the missing keel, it is a flat bottom hull. So the hull construction is relatively easy.
And you do not need a jig to construct the hull - also a big advantage for the beginner.
A very good first scratch built

Тоже хочу построить это, но увы в России очень дорогая цена на планы((((((

I also want to build this, but alas, in Russia there is a very expensive price for plans ((((((

Вы должны купить это непосредственно во Франции. Цена 75 евро или 5200 рублей примерно с учетом доставки

You have to buy it directly in France. The price is 75 euros or about 5200 rubles with shipping.

Here is the link to Gérards web-page, where you can order the planset - worth every Euro or Rubel - I was also thinking about to build this model.
Very good also as a first scratch built, due to the fact, that the hull construction with the flat bottom is easier than other hulls

Увы для меня 5000 рублей дорого(((( у нас в Сибири маленькие деньги платят за работу.Я сейчас делаю рисунки на вот это ))))) и наверное открою стройку тут на форуме
Alas, for me, 5000 rubles is expensive ((((in Siberia we pay a little money for work. I am now doing drawings for this))))) and I’ll probably open the construction site here on the forum
