It's been two years or so since I completed my HMS Pegasus. That led to shoulder surgery and other things. I've had my HMS Vanguard kit sitting on the shelf all that time. I'm thinking about starting it. The first challenge may be what I do with a 3 ft. long ship when I finish it. Well we'll see what happens...

This will make a great ship and once cased, I am sure you will find a place to admire your work. It will take longer to build this one than your previous one, but will be worth the effort.

Thanks for the replies. Actually the Vanguard would be my 8th model, just a long lay off since the last one. I had nice build logs on MSW, but its seems they've all meen lost. Donnie had asked to include photos of a couple of my models when he first launched this site, not sure if they're still here or not. I've been off the ship blogs pursuing photography, which I'm still doing, just decided it was time to build something again after an almost 3 year lay off.

Very Glad to see you back !

The HMS Pegasus is a fine ship to build I understand. I too have been away from the workbench for about 3 months. I am trying to get myself motivated again.

Donnie

I saw my Pegasus and Fair American are still displayed on your main web page contributors galley. Good to see them still there.

I guess MSW lost all the build logs including the two I did for those ships, that's too bad.

This next one will be a long slow process, too much else going on for me and its a really big ship. I did order replacement wood for the decks and decks (holly) and bulwarks (pear) from my friend Jeff Hayes at Hobbymill. So I guess its begun.

It was a long layoff, this one has been even longer. I completed the Vanguard a few years ago (it took me 3 years to build it) and after 9 ships I had no intent to build another. However, I seem to want to do another after another 3 year layoff. But I want to go small. Has anyone build the Lady Nelson by Amati? It seems to be pretty simple and shouldn't take long. I want my grandkids to see the process but I don't want to spend 2-3 years building another model. I've achieved my master class project with the Pegasus, just looking for a way to spend a few hours a day. (Gee I've been away so long I have no rank :-(

Welcome back in the hobby as well here in our forum.
Good that you decided to be once more active in the hobby.
I would like to your next project here in a building log. As I know the Lady Nelson is a very good kit and a nice restart. See you.....

I started the Lady Nelson today, it’s so tiny. It should be fun to share with my grandkids. The kit is nice and typical Amati quality but some metal parts. Today I scratch made two anchors from walnut scrap (I kept it all from prior models). Fun stuff.
Not sure it warrants a build log, we’ll see.

Hallo Glen,
every model warrants a building log - so we are looking forward to see your Lady Nelson

Greetings Glen. Please start the build log. We would love to see the build progress, and possibly learn from your experience. We may give you a hand,if needed, perhaps. ;)

Hi again Glen, I do remember you very well. I am happy that you are back on the forum. Having a large project to work on (when it is finished) does seem to take a lot out of a person and does seem to take a while to have the desire to do another. I think it has been about 6 months now since my last build of the San Felipe Panart. I am now starting on the Blandford Cross Section (as my first scratch build).

Thanks Donnie, I've posted the beginning of my work on the little Lady Nelson in the forum. Now to figure out how to link it to my signature.

I've started it and posted in the build forum...

I've started on the Lady Nelson and posted the beginning of a build log. It's nice to be at it again, but glad I chose a small scale reboot in the Lady Nelson.
