Thanks Gennaro, I bought some of this hornbeam last year from the Ebay seller. The wood is very hard, dense, even colour, not fibrous, silky smooth to touch and reminiscent of ebony. The colour is not black but rather like a dark brown chocolate bar. Looks darker than my photo.

Thanks for pointing this out. Must be brown hornbeam then. It is very dark but not pure black as the wood on your model. I imagine there may be various colour grades of this wood Around

Yes, if they sell dark brown they must indicate it.

Actually, I know 3 different ways to make gratings using the router. 2 of them are shown. There is 3rd one, but I didn't like it.

Maybe you have some pictures lying around that show the other ways to make the gratings , I'm sure there are many others who will see
how this is done, I will soon make grates for my Blandford building, thanks for good information.
