Le Requin-Zebec-1750 POF 1:48 (ZHL)

Good evening, all!
I have a weekend update, nothing spectacular just a little old fashion progress of the decking. This focus is on the aft portion of the deck. I've measured and double checked before glueing anything down, so while not all is perfect its very close. Check it out.

You can see I set one connecting piece on the port side; it had a glove tight fit which is very satisfying. I've set approximately 300 holes with 0.6mm wire and have oh I don't know maybe a few thousand more to go.

Thanks for checking in.
Till next time.

Dear Daniel. Your Xebec is looking great and bears the same attention to detail that were hallmarks of your VASA (still one my all-time favorite builds) and your Bluenose. It is a very interesting discussion about the color of the Pear wood. It is strange because the Pear on the Luhaiqingkong Royal Carlone (plenty of build examples here on SOS), is a beautiful, pinkish pear.

Thanks @Heinrich, yes, the rib and deck support members are a disappointment with the color distortions however I just love the unique shape of this vessel. I shall do my best bring out her true beauty. The decking will be just fine, should the hull planking turn out unsatisfactory I will lay overlay a veneer that will make her pop!

Great way of thinking, my friend!

The main deck construction is almost finished. Her big beautiful wide expanse of decking is starting to take shape! The first photo is before sanding with a portion of deck nails in the forward bow mid-section installed. So, my question became what to do first, install the copper nails then sand or sand then place the nails. I concluded as can be seen in the second photo to sand first with 120 grit followed by 220 grit as a preparation for the remaining nails which will come next. I'm open to anyone with their opinions on nail then sand or sand then nail. Of course, with treenails it shouldn't matter as they would sand at about the same rate as the surrounding wood. Check this out.

I will apply final sanding after the rest of the nails are installed.

That girl has some curves ROTF.

You might want to look into some of those curvy (riffler?) files. I used those then sanding blocks on the SP. Straight sanding on cut off copper wire just rips up the sandpaper.
Seems like a good idea, possibly using some kid of shield similar to how an eraser shield works with pencil and paper.

Good morning Daniel. I really like the idea of veneer overlay, although it may just "pop" after some finishing. Looking forward to the result. Cheers Grant
