I agree dowels for sure although you have some cool tapering guides thereha ha ha!! I accidently found the masts... You glue these pieces together... Think I'll go with dowels.

I some builds have a very bold, bright gold on the decorations. I didn't want this. I wanted a more subdued gold. Not bright. This is a bright one...

I'm please with the way this turned out. I can always all a litte more gold if I decide to. I now see where this can be used in several places: deck fittings, masts, decks. all sorts of trim. I have a couple sets of acrylic wood colors and some individual acrylic paints that can be used.
Something else I have watched on the internet is 'edge highlighting'. That might work in the decorative trim pieces and othet places.
What do you think? Too subdued?
