USS Constitution 1:70 Scratch

The main and fore topmast shrouds are complete. This is what the ship looks like for now.

If I had to describe it in one word, it would be "magnificent".

Ratlines aren’t my favorite thing to make, but they have to be done. Since it’s the thinnest line I have on hand, I’m using 0.19 mm diameter thread. I secure the first and last knots of each row with diluted PVA.

After completing the main and fore-lover ratlines, I turned my attention to the main yard. I’m not yet sure if I’ll install it immediately after finishing, but I’m eager to test whether the technique I’ve developed will work as intended.
I’m constructing the yard in three main parts. First, I prepared a 9x9 mm square bar for the central section and milled it into an octagonal shape. I then rounded both ends on the lathe and further refined them by milling, making them ready for assembly. On each flat of the octagon, I added battens to complete the detailing.
Next, for the side extensions of the yard, I tapered an 8 mm round bar and milled the section that will connect to the central piece. This way, the extensions fit neatly into the octagonal core, forming the overall structure of the yard.

I finally reinforced the joints with two pins.

After working on the main and fore yards for a while, I returned to ratlines and completed the main and fore upper ratlines as well.

I’ve started working on the yards again. I fabricated the sling cleats for the main yard and mounted them in place. But before doing that, I prepared the jeer lower blocks and fitted them onto the mast. Once the cleats were installed, that job would have been impossible or at least I couldn’t have done it the way I wanted.

hello,
I was just wondering if you were planning on putting sails on your boat?
I purchased the sail kit from Model Expo. I am going to try and install the sails, unfurled.

I had added sails to the first two models I built, but I couldn't achieve a realistic look. Therefore, I no longer add sails. I won't add sails to this one either.
