Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

Thanks for that. The rigging there is more complex than I saw on Petr's Golden Hind. He has a section on rigging the guns but I still could not follow the details!

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

But there was a davit? What would you do? I want to learn what was most likely, and then decide.

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

...fake, but the decision is yours. I would say the main problem is that you try to put a much later/bigger ship's fish davit on the Golden Hind while you should not. This makes you bring more and more stuff from later periods and make something that never existed. It is just my opinion and I...

    Imai/Aoshima 1/60th Junk build

...Anyway. It's only money. They are very nice blocks. I have spent two weeks re-organising my hobby room to house all the stuff I accumulated over the years, plus the extra stuff I need for ships! I had run out of space. So - little progress on my Golden Hind and I still have not started the...

Pelican scale 1/45 a small English galleon 16th century

I thought for one moment that my cat, Mabel, had taken a sneaky trip across the channel! (similar markings) She also is safe around models. Stuart

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

The second and third pictures are for bigger and later ships ;) for the navy ships of the XIX century and 3-5 masted square riggers. The video you mentioned above is also a good example. On the third picture you can see the usage of a davit, attached to the hull (near number 442). From what I...

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

...much later, in XIX century, from Campbell's Tea Clippers, but the idea of "catting & fishing" is quite the same: This one is also from the middle of XIX century shows using a cat davit (442) instead of the mast tackle: But again, on "Golden Hind" in the XVI century, it all seems a bit...

Pelican scale 1/45 a small English galleon 16th century

The start of this model was sometime in 2016. After building Billing's Vasa, I wanted to make a scratch model. The choice fell on the Golden Hind; the intention was to make a perfect copy. Little did I know then that this would turn out to be an impossible task. The name of the build log soon...

    Imai/Aoshima 1/60th Junk build

...I noticed today that the pic on the FRONT of the box shows the anchors hanging in the expected way: Conversely, the picture on the side of the box is like Harry attached them: I think you are doing a great job so far! I hope to start mne soon but have bee nbusy with work on the Golden...

    Hi

I am a complete novice in wooden ship modeling. I recently bought a secondhand model of Golden Hind by Genuwood, a Japanese company from 1980. The model was complete, except for the instruction manual. Now I am trying to locate instructions to start the project.

New Midwest Kit (re) Release: The Skipjack 1:28

I have that ship kit and am 1/2 way complete! Good ship to build and not too taxing (after the Golden Hind work). Should be done with it in a couple of months.

    "Golden Hind"1:53 Mamoli

Back in 2006, I started building the Golden Hind from the MAMOLI set. It turned out to be the longest construction project of my life. It's been 20 years, and the model is still unfinished. In 2006, I assembled the frame and started covering it with the first layer of wood. In the next...

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

Here are the anchors I bought for the Golden Hind. I think the metal shank looks OK as it is. I think maybe some paint or wood stain might improve the wooden part. For the metal bands, what advice is there for how to weather those so they are not so shiny??? Maybe they need to be blackened...

    Hi from Andalusia

Gone yer'sel Jimmy......a bit of retaliation on the vocabulary front. As an ex-army wannabe shipwright, I face the same linguistic challenges. But, it opens up a whole new level of insight...not to mention the potential answers to sneaky questions on pub quizzes here in Durham, aka 'hostile...

    Hi from Andalusia

The model was around 1m long and there was nothing to denote scale. My first model will be the old Airfix Golden Hind kit from 1977, so there wasn't much of direct relevance to that (in fact, there was very little in the way of Spanish ships from the 16th century, most of the models were 18th...

    Chinese Junk - Imai/Aoshima 1:60

John, could I bother you for a copy of the instructions? Mine are badly damaged by Katrina flood waters and are in Chinese, would yours be in English?, I've washed off all the dried mud and starting the pre-prep process.

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

I have just noticed (sigh) a fairly considerable error inthe Airfix bulkeads. Have a look at the deck and the bulkheads in the pic... If you wanted to go from point A to point B you would need to enter the door, follow the dotted white line to a set of stairs inside, exit through the circled...
