I’ve just bought this model and already having an issue with building the stern. It does not give very good info on how and what the material to use to put it together. I’m thinking the kit was shipped without the item needed.
Any one able to help me out?

Welcome to the forums.
Probably a good place to start is giving us the manufacturer name and what the model is of.
Then probably some specifics as to exactly what the issue is. Maybe some pictures of plans and any diagrams.

Welcome Abroad! Hope you will share more photos as you build this ship.

If you could at least provide the name of the model or a distinguishing feature and what the exact problem is, I'm sure we'll have some friends who can help you with the issue...

well, the title of his post does say "America" and it looks like they were going to add the manufacturer, but stopped.

Good morning everyone. Sorry for not providing enough info. This is a model shipways boat and I find the instructions are very light compared to those of Billing’s for example.
My issue is forming the stern of this vessel. It appears I’m missing a critical piece to fit the stern . Here is a picture I’m trying to figure out. I have one more stern bulkhead to install but when I put it on the deck does not fit so next bulkhead fits in the deck slots. Can any of you come up with a solution to this problem.

Hello Jackie and welcome aboard. That appears to be very reminiscent of how the stern of my Benjamin Latham schooner from Model Shipways went together.
The plans and instructions were somewhat vague as to how the transom was attached. Could you post a picture of your plans showing the stern section construction. I have included a picture of my plans for the stern section for comparison. You can see that on my plans I drew in lines so I could determine the angle of the transom.

One of the most elusive and difficult aspects of modeling the schooner yacht "America"'s hull is the tumblehome (or inward return, or curve, of the hull from a little aft of mid-ships to the transom, an odd, rather unique, and signature feature of this racing yacht's hull. It rarely translates well onto plans and laser cut bulkheads for successful modeling as it is a rather unusual and subtly sculpted feature extending right around the curved stern of the boat, with the transom craftily attached to it.
From the upper edge of the tumblehome is a vertically raised bulwark subtly beginning about midships and travelling right around the stern inside the transom with the railing continuous on top. Very difficult to understand and model in three dimensions.
Even going so far as to practice modeling this stern in modeling clay (in a smaller scale) in order to understand it is not an outrageous idea.
I preferred modeling this hull using the old fashioned solid carved wood method. I have an old Model Shipways blank for this purpose, if you are interested in going that route. If so, PM me and I'll send it to you. Caveat: this method is rife with its' own unique set of problems to overcome.
Welcome, by the way, to SoS! Thumbsup ;).

I reckon it's just a couple of blocks of softwood glued on and then shaped. You will need to find some decent plans, there are some available free on shipmodell.com and others. Make a false keel extension to add to the center line with the correct silhouette then add on to the sides. This is one i scratchbuilt on America for the 1891 version , which had been extended six feet in 1887, It's not exactly the same, but you get the idea. 20240425_085428.jpg
