Hello everyone,
A quick update. I ended up altering the small topmast Lantern due to the bronze/brass window casting was orientated in the wrong direction. The kit supplied lantern had the candle access door situated in the wrong location (facing aft) and the entire casting was orientated in the wrong direction. I purchased the Syren Ship Model Company Laser Cut Stern Lantern Kit and did a modification. I did install a working mini bulb (will post pics of all the working lights later).
Onwards we go---------------------------------------------

Magnificent detailing. I can almost see the nippers tying the ropes.

I ended up blackening the brass delaying pins. After getting more details added, the brass was still a bit overwhelming.

I love the look of those blackened belay pins!!!
So the blackened pins have some yellow brass showing through the finish, or is the problem that the pins are too shiny and need to be dulled? I think they look fine as-is. They are finely machined, and a slightly shiny finish mimics wood coated with varnish. Coating them with flat black paint may make the pin surfaces look lumpy or mat the edges less distinct, unless you use an air brush in lieu of a brush. This whole thing is one of the finest details to pay attention to, but when you are looking to make a first class model, which this is thus far, every detail counts.

Hello everyone. I made 6 spare Spars that the Royal Caroline would most certainly/likely kept on board when making official visits via sea faring travels. I am in the process of getting them set into place and then I will be lashing the spars down. The small Spar on the port side that is resting on top of the capstan bars will be lashed to the spar.
