Advice on tools to get started in models

Can anyone advise a basic cheap kit to get started on basic models and are tgere any models that dont require to much skill , the plank bending and nailing does look hard.

I also have a old norske love boat but it needs holes cutting for windows how do i do this ?

I also suggest considering a practicum on building a model ship. Practicums are developed by master modelers to aid in step by step instructions with illustrations on building a specific model. There are several available by different authors. One source I use is Lauckstreetshipyard.com. Bob Hunt has a straightforward, easy, build and teaching style.
