My uncle bought this model for me just before he passed away last year, my auntie sent it to me this year. I have build eight ship so far all wood. This will be my first plastic ship.


On the 19th of this month I started , first thing was to prime everything.

Sorry still new to the form and have trouble working my computer lol.
The second thing I had to do was decide on how to paint this ship. The paint instructions are not clear but I can figure it out. Mostly by looking at the box and painting it like the box.






It is all painting,, glue a few things together then paint and paint. I am to the point that I just have the white to paint, the triangles are pretty hard to do I shake to much, wow never notice I shook so bad till I started painting those triangles lol.






So the painting continues, the hull is just about done, have only the white left on both sides, I painted this all free hand as you can see, lol. It looks good to me and I am only building for the fun the hobby brings, and boy am I having fun.
Well that's my Golden Hind, more painting tomorrow and probably the day after that. Lol. Thanks for looking in.

Great day in the shipyard, finished painting the hull, made and painted the anchors and painted the sign. Up next will be the channales and deadeyes. I am really glad the triangles are finished, shakey work but passable.



Coming along nicely, time to start thinking about the sails . I should be able to do the shrouds and a few ratlines by the end of the week .

The box is almost empty .
And Sir Francis Drake is inspecting the sails, he not sure of these sails, but will see what I can do with some paint first, Then make a decision about cloth sails or silk span

All the pieces have been painted, another coat of yellow on the sten and it just sails and thread left

So by the end of the day today, should only be rigging to do. And I love ratlines, I still can't belive that so many people dislike ratlines lol. I am starting to think of my next build, I was hoping for a Black Swan but lucky @Rob444 beat me to it. Which by the way my name was next it just slowed down a bit to much lol. Oh well time to dig one out of my stach. I got a Billing Bluenose that I want to try, my first schooner. After I finish this Golden Hind

All the channels are installed,easiest deadeyes and lanyards I ever made lol. I decide to give the kit sails a try, if they don't turn out decent, the First Mate says she will sew me some if needed.

Rigging begins with the first pair of shrouds on both sides of the foremast.


Lots of outside work to do ,so don't know how much will be done today, but I am hoping for sometime at least. Lol.

Making of the sails: After the wash coat of Holy white, I glues a 1.3mm bolt rope on all the sails.



And of course I had to see what they looked like, a little highlights I think they will be fine.


The lower foremast shrouds are attached on to the main mast, the shrouds switch down a size to .5 mm for the Mizzen mast and the upper shrouds as well. The one thing I don't like is there is no adjustment for the shrouds once on that's it. So if you over tighten one you losses three others so it is tricky. But we are moderlers, lol
On to the rest of the shrouds, and I will run a few stays as well . Ok later.

Well this is as far as I got with the Hind, I have 48 clove hitches left on the main mast, all the rest are done.
I also ran the fore stays but had to call on fellow member @GabeK to make me some heart blocks and timble blocks ,he is just fantastic with his printer. I tryed but totally failed the holes for the timble blocks was off center and they were cut at an angle, that's why I kit build, cutting a 2x4 in half the pieces don't line up together after the cut lol

He whipped me up the blocks and threw in two ships captains and a boat.


Gabe makes all my figures and thing, he is a great friend, also very busy, he doesn't have time to make things but will drop everything to do something for others, that's just the type of guy he is. And he's my buddy. .

So Sir Drake will stand guard for awhile till I get back. I have to shut things down for awhile, seems I separated my right shoulder again, this time I did a number on it. OW.
I just have to paint the three walls then make the anchors ,that's it, then just a matter of adding the sails and they are pretty much done. So when I do get back at it , it won't take long to finish this build.
So close in fact that I am going to start my Bluenose nose ship, well just the box opening and putting things away, plus more research, .

I going to make a stand for the ship's boat, I have tied on the breach ropes only for the cannons. A tiny drop of CA to hold the sails on and then I tied will tie them on.

This model was a lot of fun but I found it a little flimsy but I suppose that's the nature of plastic. , I have five more wooden ships to build, it is just my opinion but I will be very glad to get back to my wooden models.

Rigging continues on the Hind. I had a few medical problems, I fell awhile back separating my right shoulder that sucked, slowly getting better then my knee blew out . So now got an 850.00 dollar brace for my knee. I had to wait for an order of rigging lines to continue anyway,

so now I have enough to start rigging, getting all the blocks ready and running the threads, should be done in time to make my prize in the

LUCZORAMA SHIPWRECK draw.​

So with that my journey into ship building continues. I have a couple Bluenose ships to do.. and a Pegasus as well as an Astrolabe 1812 to finish then I am going to pick my dream ship kit..either the Warship Soleil Royal by Artesania Latina or the next relise Vanguard Models the Surprise one never knows something else may catch my eye.But I will be getting one for sure.

It is a fun ship to build and paint, for a 70 year old shakey painter, not bad , I kinda like it.
But when it comes to rigging this kit is lacking. I did the best I could do, I have the Bowsprit mast and the figurehead, plus anchors flag and done. I will post a few final pictures soon, talk soon.
