Another Brigantine Phoenix by Master Korabel [COMPLETED BUILD]

Well - evidentiary failure was an option after I got creative with some Flory washes, Minwax stain and Tamiya acrylic paint (what was I thinking!). The sails turned out a very nice shade of brown - and I just don’t think the Black Sea Russian navy had brown sails lol. So unless I’m wrong about that I’m going to order another set.

Can't you give them a wash in turpentine to wash out some color?

That's an interesting idea. I've already ordered the replacement sails, but I'll try it.

Ok - I tried that and it did make the turpentine brown, but didn't do much to the sail color. Maybe if I had a couple of gallons of the stuff, but I don't.

Have you thought about soaking them in coffee or tea?

I don't drink coffee or tea, nice idea, but given today's circumstances I'm not going out to buy it.

I went all Jason Pollock on the sails. Each step made things worse lol.

I’m still waiting on the sails. In the meantime, my ZHL Soleil Royal has arrived, so the Phoenix will go on the back burner for a while.

Well …… this thing has been sitting in my display room mocking me for 3 1/3 years. I’ve finished the Soleil Royal and a bunch of other stuff. I think I better finish this before my essential tremors make it impossible.

I soaked the sails in Minwax Pickled Oak, blotted them dry with paper towels, and then hung them up to dry.

Мастер Корабел делает очень качественные наборы, особенно смотрятся с деревянным декором. К сожалению сейчас латунные пушки в наборах заменили на полимерные (проработка, и детализация на высоте, но пластик это не то с чем хотелось работать при постройке модели из дерева)

Спасибо за ваши комментарии. С тех пор как несколько лет назад я купил модель корабля, мои пушки сделаны из латуни. Я также модернизировал кормовые детали.
