I've played with the idea of giving it a realistic paint job, with fuel stains
There are two SR-71s on display within 1 1/2 hours of me. I’m lucky to have them for reference.I have a theory that all that needs to be done is to vary the shine, making the surface a little more shiny where you want to indicate the wet fuel.
Variations in surface sheen are very common on real aircraft, especially those with a matt finish, but are rarely seen on models.
Glad to be here. Thank you.Welcome to our Merry Group!
Looks like it has the drone next to it !Took these pictures during my visit to the Evergreen Museum in M Minnville, Oregon (also home for the Spruce Goose):View attachment 511949View attachment 511950View attachment 511951View attachment 511953View attachment 511952View attachment 511954

I've seen an SR71 at Air and Space and at Warner-Robbins in GA. I don't remember seeing one at the Air Force museum in OH, but I would imagine they have one too.![]()
I figured there is, I just don't remember it. I didn't have much time there and pretty much had to run through it.There is indeed an SR-71 at Dayton, as well as the YF-12A, one of its predecessors.
It’s an amazing plane that still looks like it is from the future. Incredible amount of information here at SoS. For that, thank you! The Bluenose is my first wood model and I'm still trying to figure out how to cut the rabbits for planking. I know it will be a long-term project as I have multiple other kits I'm working on.
Don, thank you. A quick look didn't show a list of clubs on here. Maybe I missed them. I'm between Charlottesville and Culpeper. Are you aware of any in this area?Larry
Welcome abord. We have several clubs here in the Old Dominion depending on your location. Most clubs are hands on with learning things and demonstrations.
A good resource.

Appreciate it.Welcome to the crew.
Every week there seems to be new members. And they say this hobby is fading out.
Damn I hope not !
