I have very recently rekindled model ship building as a hobby after around 25 years having then built two and a half models. I opted to make my mistakes while learning on a starter kit from Model Shipways. I have now completed the Dory and started the Norwegian Sailing Pram. Even I can see obvious errors on my build of the Dory (and on the pram) errors that I hope to not make too many times in the future.
I also didn't want to start on a model that would frustrate me and possibly cause me to stop building again. The last time, other than time available, I stopped building because I purchased a kit for a blue nose that did not in my opinion have adequate instructions. As I build I am researching which brands have detailed instructions that suit me for the fourth model and beyond. I am very much leaning towards Occre as they seem to have clear pictures and also video which I find is my predominant learning method. Of course, as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating so I am still open to options and recommendations.
