Back to model ship building after 25 years

I have very recently rekindled model ship building as a hobby after around 25 years having then built two and a half models. I opted to make my mistakes while learning on a starter kit from Model Shipways. I have now completed the Dory and started the Norwegian Sailing Pram. Even I can see obvious errors on my build of the Dory (and on the pram) errors that I hope to not make too many times in the future.

I also didn't want to start on a model that would frustrate me and possibly cause me to stop building again. The last time, other than time available, I stopped building because I purchased a kit for a blue nose that did not in my opinion have adequate instructions. As I build I am researching which brands have detailed instructions that suit me for the fourth model and beyond. I am very much leaning towards Occre as they seem to have clear pictures and also video which I find is my predominant learning method. Of course, as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating so I am still open to options and recommendations.

Welcome to SoS!!! Starting with the pram and dory was a wise move. Study the build logs here at SoS thoroughly before making a decision on a more complex build, then compare your priorities with the comments posted. Be it clear instructions, realistic results, quality materials, price, etc., see what fits your list best. If you are not sure, PM the folks with the build logs that look interesting to you for their opinions.

I agree. Starting with the Dory and Pram was a great move.
I will warn you that I don't think there is a kit made that has "perfect" instructions. :)
However, you have a huge group here that is willing to help. Again a warning though; as you probably already know, there are many ways to skin a cat ( or ship in this case) and all of what they recommend will work. You will need to pick the one you think will work best for you.

Welcome to the forums !
I look forward to seeing your future builds !

I think you should look at Vanguard.
You could find videos on Youtube on their models also.
