Unicorn Models - New Kit Bonhomme Richard 1779 1:48 - New Aft Midship Cross Section

I really like all the assembly jigs you have designed to help with the rigging of blocks and tackle for channel items.

This has always been an area that was a weak spot in my work.
Thank you. I always like to use certain jigs to be more efficient when building a ship model, and I think most modelers like the same too, so I will try to provide the necessary jigs/tools in the kits as much as possible.

Awesome! I can't wait to get mine and go through it.

On that note, I did just receive word from Dry-Dock that my kit has shipped and will be here Tuesday. Is Dry-Dock going to handle the barrel and mast kits as well?

I just looked at the online illustrated instruction manual for the kit. It is by far the best, most instructive and clear build manual/instructions that I have ever seen ! Truly amazing...It can be be accessed and downloaded from the Unicorn models section on the DryDock modelship website.
Really worth a look.

This is a master course in model building. How long did it take you to finish the model ? My kit is arriving today. I don't know when I'll start it (Im also about to start Dockyards' 1:48 Enterprise.) Hopefully I can start the build in the summer in my second home. Enterprise will be built in Houston, Texas, and Bon Homme in Park City, Utah. It would be really nice if you could sell a kit with all the 1:48 jigs as they can be used in any build....
I may use some of the many fabulous rigs that are in this kit to help me with the Enterprise.
This build and the online instructions are the best anywhere.
Thanks

Now I just have to learn to bend and solder the brass as nice as you show in the build log.

Thanks for the hard work you do.

I have noticed while looking at Dry Docks website that you also have an Aft Section model as well, in theory would these two separate models match up together.

I think you'd have about a foot of missing ship between them.

Well, my build time may not be a reference because it includes design, drawing, building, shooting, etc., especially shooting videos is very time-consuming (by the way, this kit will have a tutorial video coming out one after another), so it took about 7 years to design this kit (of course, not all of these 7 years are used in this kit, and I usually have a lot of other things to deal with). As for the jigs, I can only say that the size data of each ship is different, and it is impossible to achieve universal use.

Was the 7 years doing the entire ship or just this section?

Yes, from preparation to completion, but the design is intermittent because there is a lot of other work to deal with so it is not possible to fully commit to this kit project
I know how that goes, I have my own projects that have been ongoing since 2018 that won't be complete for a long time yet. I am just glad to know we don't have to wait 21 years for the other three sections. :D :D :D

The Muller painting depicts her in 1779 and it shows the channels below the upper gun deck ports and above the lower gun deck ports ports. The Gilkerson painting at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis appears to show the channels below the upper gun deck ports as well. The Unicorn model has them above the upper gun deck ports. The Tufnell drawing shows them above the upper gun deck ports. Which is correct?

Every source I've ever seen has them above the upper guns, including the Ancre drawings.
