Thank you one and all for your nice coments,,,,,and no I am not going to sand the char off for a couple of reasons,,, one the pieces are to fragile and will break off, two I planed it this way as a piece that will hang on the wall in a picture frame with painted wood backing it will give some contrast to the piece, THANKS AGAIN All
 
Wow! I am again late to the party. It is a nice kit and you are doing a great job building it! I wouldn't recommend removing the char at least with power tools. This plywood (or not plywood perhaps) so fragile. I broke a few frames while cleaning ribs assembling similar kit.
 
Thanks All for your kind coments, here is the finished product waiting to be shipped to my SON and Family in NEW ORLEANS, it was a fun build delicate but buildable
