Today, the kit came from China. At first glance, everything seems fine. A big difference compared to before (Halcon 1840 1: 100). 6 pages instruction, pre-cut sails, Deadeye`s, single pulley´s etc. Gradually I will supplement with cannons, rings ect. I post my Build logs afterwards, but it may take the time it takes.

I have finally finished the lifeboat. I was afraid I would not be able to handle the leaf-thin details. Some broke but I was able to fix it with some glue. Now I have started with "planking" of the ship, but the lengths are too short so I have to splice. My first was cut diagonally but it might be easier to cut straight off. Anyone have a tip for splicing as nicely as possible?

There is a bit of a problem with the quality of my kit. "plank´s" are too short so I have to splice. I have found a way to cut diagonally and extend the plank. See picture with the arrows pointing to the extension. Works well but is time consuming. During a review of the material in the kit, I found a number of sticks that are incorrect and broken.

Hi "Pianoforte". Thank you for your compliment. Now I'm finally done with "planking". Sanding and some wood filling remains. I found an aluminum profile that fits exactly to the keel of the boat. It makes it easier when I have to work with the masts and rig. The boat is steady as a rock. Has started preparing for the masts with accessories. I have a bit of a problem with the heights of the "lower / upper" topsail yard, but I try to calculate the height ratio from the drawing and pictures.

Ok now the hull is almost finished. It requires a little extra improvement here and there regarding the painting. Masts and Bowspritt are prepared and must be provided with holes and loops. I have made rings for the masts to be able to attach the sails and try to make loops for the masts.

Has now worked with the masts and tested against the pre-cut sails. It was almost perfect (if you look very closely you can see the contours of the sails). If anyone sees and reads this I would be happy for tips on a good alternative for rig ropes. Have tried artificial fiber before, but the knots do not hold. Maybe cotton ropes are a better alternative.

Has now worked with "Shrouds" and prepared those who will sit in the hull. It is not easy as they are only 4 mm in diameter. Now the equivalent is waiting to be fastened with ropes. I have tested and may be able to make it work if I have enough life time. I have to build a template that can attach Lower and Upper Shrouds and attach these in between which will then also continue to "Ratlines" In addition, I plan how to attach sails and rigs in the best way. The two large sails will be attached while the masts are loose. Then it is easier to fix the rig.

Finally I have all Shrouds ready for assembly. Together 36 with 4 mm diameter and holes that are 0.5 mm. Now a template will be built where the assembly and tying "Ratlines". I make the whole line with Shrouds and ratlines in one piece before it is attached to the hull.

Great idea to make ratlines, yet another useful jig! Many thanks for sharing!

BTW, Congrats on your model completion, Goran! Well...almost completion... ;)

Great job man.
I really love the result.
Your photos are a nice help for my build.

Excellent job on the splicing, I wouldn't have noticed only u said it.

Thanks for the positive comments and thumbs up. After building my "Harvey" 1847 scale 1:96 finished, there was a very big difference on my first build a "Halcon" 1840 scale 1: 100, where there were many mistakes that I could correct on my Harvey. The Halcon kit had no information about mast lengths, sail sizes or rigs, so it turned out as it did. In the end, I decided to cut everything above the hull and rebuild. I had to drill out of the masts and remove a number of details (some broke but I managed to fix most of the parts). The masts and rig became completely new. The masts with details are made of residues from the two ships. The sail is an old washed-out T-skirt. So it was a few more weeks of boat building. Now it's soon summer and we are Corona vaccinated so now it's other interests that apply. I have started thinking about what I could build in the coming autumn and winter.

HARVEY 1847 Scale 1:96 China kit with pretty good instruction and dimensions.

Halcon 1840 Scale 1: 100. Everything over the railing is newly made from scrap from the kits.

Do you happen to still have the instructions for this? I just got this ship kit from a resale shop but it seems to be missing a few pages.
