I kind of figured that out after the fact. What fooled me is the kit manual which are videos shows in a couple places the out line of the liners under the paint. So I assumed the liners were deep enough. Should have found them and tested before I did the planking.
This kit also has top liners, so 3 parts. They’re kind of a pain to install. I measured the liners and as I do the upper decks I will add the 1.25mm to the planking ends on both sides and the top down as well. I decided to make a jig I can use for the planking section. . I have to say this part of the kit Artesania’s manual is lacking.

This is the norm for many of us, and is never-ending. It is a good day when a mistake I have made is spotted and pointed out to me as then I will avoid it on the next project.

The liners on top are a common mistake on the majority of kits. If I cannot find this kind of thing in a book, the photos of contemporary models at RMG, Preble Hall, and other maritime museums are sometimes easier to study to find these kinds of details. FWIW, the stops/linings were no more than about 1.5" thick (0.45mm at 1:84 scale)

I guess the good news is this was on the lower deck so by the time I get to a deck that can be seen I’ll be the planking champion.

Definitely been a stay inside kind of week. Freeze the balls off a brass monkey. I know the true ship fans know what a brass monkey is.
I’ve been working on two things, both lengthy tedious endeavors. I have the first 30 cannon tackled and 1/2 of the hull planked. Also had to flush a tankless water heater and replace a control board in the barely used dishwasher. Haha.

Finished the hull, putty and 2 coats of primer.
Started on the wales today and touched up the gun ports after first strip of paint. I’m fairly happy with the hull. Not great but good enough for copper plates and paint.
Copper plates are coming up shortly.
