Hello friends
As I have now completed the Amerigo Vespucci, I am starting a new project: 1:72 Caldercraft HMS Victory.
I was looking to purchase this kit a few months ago and thanks to SoS, one of our members has agreed to sell me his kit (thank you Kurt).
I brought back the large and heavy box back to France and I am now ready to get started.
In order to have all the elements at hand, I purchased a few books that I am sure will guide me thru the process.
Let's now get started :p

Hello Gilbert. Now I'm excited seeing you build the Victory - I have a front row seat. You definitely bought the most comprehensive kit and I know you are going to own this build....Enjoy. Cheers Grant. P.S. - you must have plenty of room in your house to add another beast of a ship after your Vespucci.

Hey Grant
I indeed look forward to this build.
Best

Gilbert,
I will be in the back, watching with my telescope.
Heaven is reading great books, and building superb models in Mougins - one of my favorite places in the world. We stayed at the Moulin de Mougins many years ago...idyllic. I was riding my bicycle a lot in the area...need to go back.

Thanks Alex
Indeed the Moulin de Mougins was a great place a few years ago; but unfortunately it's not as nice now.
btw I live less than 1 mile from this place
Cheers

Gilbert,
Is Christian Levett's Mougins Museum of Classical Art still open ? One the best museums I have ever been to. The objects are all beautifully presented. I especially remember the collection of Greco-Roman militaria. Have to return !! Museum needs a first-class model of a Roman Trireme...

Hello Alex
Yes, the museum is still open but has significantly changed. It was called Musée d'art classique de Mougins (MACM) standing for classical art museum.
It is now changed to display European women artist paintings and sculptures and is called FAMM (Femmes artistes du musée de Mougins, women artists from Mougins museum). I have personally not visited the museum since it has changed.
Cheers

I think I'll be a keen observer to your project Gilbert. From your comments to Kurt, I'm thinking this may have been my kit originally as I sold one to Kurt. So I may have a special interest and believe it is in very good hands!

Congratulations Gilbert.

As you may know I am currently ‘marooned’ on this model with half a hull complete with copper plating and awaiting some more free time to move on, however this is a wonderful albeit complex kit that you will receive many hours (years), of enjoyment.

Regards
PeterG

I will be having my eyes on your build as well. I am finishing up my second planking of the same Caldercraft ship.
