My son bought me this kit for Christmas, it took 10 mos. to build. As you can tell, I scratch built the helicopter. The one in the kit had a crack in it. Trying to fix, made it worse. Added a bunch of extras. Fun kit to build.

I guess I'm old and historic also. Those were the days before DVR when we would beg our parents to let us stay up late to watch a National Geographic special.

Happy 75th. I am one year behind you. Fabulous looking model. I started the same Calypso kit 30 years ago as I was a huge fan of Jacques Cousteau and watched all his specials on TV. I was making the ship radio-controlled but never finished it although I still have all the parts in the original box. Maybe one day I'll complete it. I'm currently working on a Bonhomme Richard Cross Section by Unicorn Models.

Nice. I’m building the same kit right now. I put lights in mine.

Billing Boats. Vacu-formed hull and some other parts, mostly wood, some plastic parts, and a lot of well made brass fittings. Instructions just fair. Kind of expensive. Watch for sales if you want to buy.
