It can though be done ship specific and just add a plan sheet to regular plans.
I was talking if designers would take the idea and think about some jigs with their kits instead of just Hahn style or gantry's it might make things less intimidating for newbies.
Also it does give newbies ideas for creating jigs. as in the model planes and everything, people do make their own jigs to build with for each kit they get. The important thing is to show people out there that they can make jigs like this to help them build. If people Aren't able to imagine how a jig can be made to make things easier they wont try to come up with one. But if people start seeing jigs in build threads or on plans more people will invent them for their build and when they share their builds people will see them and create their own.
The problem I see a lot with these model ship forums etc is that things get dumbed down as they think people arent able to do this or that unless someone else does it for them. If a person is going to be building a model they are usually a model builder of other types models so have probably bashed a kit or made a jig before. So people need to stop thinking newbies are going to be dumb and not able or willing to make stuff like jigs etc for themselves. Yes some newbies maybe apprehensive about ship modelling, however most are experienced modellers and if they see other possibilities to help them build will come up with their own jigs etc to build by.
