CNC 3018 PRO BM Laser Engraver Wood Router Machine + Offline Controller GRBL

I am using Rhino3d to make the drawings, you can find the free demo version at https://www.rhino3d.com/
Export your files as .DXF so the next software can handle them.

To convert the drawings to gcode i am using Estlcam. This is an easy to work with cam software. You can find it at https://www.estlcam.de/
Once you made the gcode file, it will automatically go to a simulation.

The third software i use is Candle. With this software you run your CNC machine. This came with my machine on a usb stick. When using google i find this link: https://github.com/Denvi/Candle

A lot of tutorials of these 3 softwares can be found on youtube.

Hello dear friends
Today I achieved partial success working with the machine.
I was able to produce a drawing of a triangle, however I have not yet overcome the problem of resetting between aesel software and the implementation of grbl execution.
The difficulty is synchronizing the zero points of the axis in the software that manufactures and implements the plan on the aluminum surface and the wooden board on which the work is performed. Hope I understand.

Anyway this weekend I'm getting a private lesson from an expert cnc author. Attaches a video of the process and a picture of the result

question about Rhino: After the 90 day eval period, apparently the plugins stop working. Did you find this to be a problem?

I do not use the plugins at all, so that is no problem for me.
The worst part is you are not able to save or export your files anymore, and that is a big problem.

There are workarounds for this problem, google has the knowledge about how to do so.

Nice little machine. I always thought that the spindles on these where underpowered even for wood. But it seems they handle it very well.

I have a hobby grade "Stepcraft" CNC with a brushless spindle. I use a CAD software to create the drawings and export to dxf.
EstlCAM to produce the CNC Program and WinPCNC to run the machine.

Hello dear friends
It's been a while since I have shared about the things I do with the machine. The last few days I have been trying to design for my friend a wooden logo for a boutique winery he has been building lately. This is the sketch and the initial result. For a start it is not bad, now I will start with the necessary steps to improve the result and after that we will put out a final and respectable product on quality wood.

Dear Friends
I would love to have your help with references to 3D design and milling software. The machine and software I use for milling are - CNC 3018 PRO. Router Machine + GRBL For creation and design I use an easel that is good for two dimensions. I would be happy for your references to 3D design and milling software that are easy to use for inexperienced or professional people and if which software is free to use.
thanks in advance

Hello dear friends
Today I worked for several hours preparing 8 plates for the children that I volunteer once a month To guide them .
I decided to give each of them a wooden board with his name and a painting that reflects the person he is.

Hope this will make them happy.

Don't know what makes you happier, working on your ship or making those boards for kids! Great job and mentoring our yang generation! I am sure they will be happy! But who's happier? ;)

thanks for your kind words, my dear friend :)

Hello dear friends
In recent days I have returned to developing skills and products using the 3018Pro cnc machine. The day before yesterday I designed and manufactured the wheels of the cannon cart, and Deadeyes from a coop of poplar wood.
20210916_124603.jpg20210916_132210.jpg20210916_133736.jpg And today I went to design the sides of the cart, as I try to make the sides from three different types of wood - poplar, cherry and pear. At the same time I experimented with different types of mills and different sizes of sides. Attaching photos of the process.

I admit that the results do not match the quality of milling in the additional method of the proxxon MF70, however I believe that with a little more experiment, an examination can be achieved and a satisfactory result can be achieved.
I wish us all a pleasant and enjoyable weekend
