Combat Station 2 bridges 1:32 English 17th centuries
Draft model for novice and intermediate
A (Navy Board Model)
Build December 2018 - February 2019
Well this model is basically a model on plan that you can download free here (in English and imperial measurement) 1-a
http://www.modelshipbuilder.com/e107_images/custom/Battle Station Practicum - 1-32 Practicum.pdf

On this site you will find a number of ship plans that are free.
In my case I order the wood kit for this model on the same site + - kit a $ 160 cdn it was a good decision not having the necessary equipment to make certain cut in the thicknesses required.
The instructions include 28 pages of assembly instructions 2 pages for the list of material and 10 pages of drawing on the scale
Now what is provided with the kit is the wood needed for the construction of the station.
Cherry, poplar, African oak, walnut, pear, and beech
And the 3 gun stands (Plastic and 3 laser cut sheet 1-b
1-a.JPG
1-b.JPG
1-d is the reason I ordered the kit not having the equipment to make a precision cut in a thickness of 20 and 10 mm in cherry wood

There is 2 gratings one on each deck
Here is the first 4
4.JPG

And my problems start because the kit at first sight only provides what is needed to manufacture only one
Ok no problem I will do them by hand
Measure and cut 5 and all are made
The result is not good
5.JPG

Good here the solution and you will have a good laugh at my depend
It was 2 days stuck with this problem (that's when I decided to do the Somua) I'm in my bath and think nothing special when suddenly the idea of genius
Since I never throw anything (my environment minister does not like that)
I have keep the laser cutting cuts that coincide wonderfully 6

Here is the second finish and identical to the first 7 - 8

Fabrication of hinges
As I have kept the tree of the PE of the France and River Boat I will use this to make my hinges and the pieces on the guns the width is perfect just cut and bend

9-11 I do not have to miss my shot
I have to adjust the pieces on the wall, one chance only to make the adjustment properly

This part was actually done a little early same time as the construction of the second deck
The necessary adjustments and temporary placement done before installing the second deck
The instructions do not provide a recoil pulley for guns.
I add them by calculating the necessary distance

11-1.JPG
11-2 the photo that comes with the instructions to add details
Note that it gives no information dimensions or other
11-2.JPG
I'm going to do of a lots of guest work here
Evaluate the size of the rods according to the length of the barrels and the diameter of the jaws, cut and turn to bring them to the correct diameter 11-3, 11-4
11-3.JPG
11-4.JPG
In my box I had barrels that will do but I need 3 smaller ones
Return or tour and manufacture 11-5
11-5.JPG
Here all the accessories are made apart from the big barrel and 3 small pall all had to be made 11-6
11-6.JPG

This kit that I do not consider to be really a kit is what is in the Anglophone mode call a Garage kit there are dozens like this available
A plan of wood and sometimes some pre-fabricated parts.
In this case the guns are an artisanal molding probably 3D printer and yes probably not a representation that corresponds to the time.
Honestly I must confess that I did not do any research to have the historical value of this model only the visual aspect was taken into consideration

Installing the gun
Ok not realize that I did not have the space to pass my hands and the deep was to great for my pincer or my hook to hang the inner side of the pulley inside of the gun emplacement 12-1 not obvious and it took me 2 hours to succeed not dare to take off the barrel to avoid damaging the bridge
12-1.JPG
Right side put the hooks before gluing the gun in place 12-2
12-2.JPG

The guns are in place on the 2 bridges 12-3
12-3.JPG

That's it!
All accessories in place.
Beginning December 19, 2018 end February 20 2019
Total 117h of assembly

I still have to get me a nice display.

The kit
The instructions by itself are quite clear and precise
I had the wood supplied enough that I think I could make a 2em except for laser cuts of course.
The assembly is 30% kit the rest is scrach which in my case made me out of my comfort zone.
In the end I have a beautiful model a friend wants it, its going to depend on my minister of external affairs (she likes this montage) and as I told my friend that he brought the kit (any way he wants to pay me) I will make another one without all the mistakes I made on it and there are several, and this time leave part of the outer wall to see the vertical couples as suggest on a French forum
