I made another visit to the Cutty Sark last week and took around 1000 photos. For obvious reasons these are all detail photos aimed at helping me with aspects of the model. They are largely focussed on the masts, spars & rigging. I'm uploading these to dropbox for anyone to download and do with as you will. Due to free storage limitations I'll need to do this in three or four. The first tranche is accessible via this link

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5xnj0nrvpfztcnj/AAAAgu-W1ZY5fpTL8c3hYcKHa?dl=0. I'm not at all au fait with dropbox so if that doesn't work I won't know how to fix it!

I'll delete these and upload the next load in about 2 weeks time, and so on. If anyone reads this, say next year, drop me a pm if you want them.

These are great photos of a lot of details.

Many Many thanks for sharing with us

I would love to have photos of the real thing for reference. I'm building the CS although it's been on hold for a couple years now. However I'm just about to get back to work on it so your pictures would be very welcome. It won't take a year to look at them either. Ha!
Several years ago, maybe after the fire, the CS restoration people offered a key fob made out of the metal from the foremast presumably to raise money for the resto work. So I have one now and it's big deal for me to have a piece of that ship right here in my house. Bet it's a thrill to visit that site never mind get on the real ship even for only a few minutes. Thanks for sharing the pictures..

Sadly Dropbox has suspended sharing due to too much traffic. The suspension apparently lasts for 24 hrs, so anyone who didn’t manage to get the files may have more success later. If not, send me a pm and I’ll do workaround.

I may need to handle the remaining photo batches a little differently, i.e. smaller sets and to named individuals (pm me). I suppose we can’t complain, it’s free!

Pick out the best ones for detail and send them in batches by email. That way you can send them to a lot of people all at once. Still free too. I would very much like to be included but under "Members" it still shows my old email. How can I get my new email to you without posting it for the public?

Hi Norgale, a couple of days ago I was working on the fore top fixings and used around 6 or 7 different shots to get all the info I needed, but had to look through a lot more to whittle it down to that; each of which might be more useful for other details. To be honest I have no desire to try to edit the collection, it would take me hours. And trust me, these are not fine art or a joy to study, they are just technical detail and only marginally more interesting, to me, than reading one of the reference books!

I can understand that with having a thousand pictures and I don't suggest that you go through the whole kit and kaboodle. Whatever you can send my way I'll appreciate. There are probably a lot of lines missing on the display ship since there are no sails hung but being able to see anything that close would be way ahead of anything I've seen so far. I don't know computers well enough to say what could be done to get the info out to the members. I hope other members will help you with that. Pete

Hi Kevin
I couldn’t get the link to work either …… got a “404” error.
I use Shutterfly for on-line photo storage; they provide unlimited free storage and you can organise photos into albums and give anyone access to see them and/or download any they’d like to have.
Hope this helps, cheers.

Got it. Downloaded, which is a bit of a waste as I'm never going to make the Cutty Sark. Made a plastic model when I was about 12. :)

I just clicked on the link and went straight to the folder on December 09, 2022 - no problems downloading - thank you.
