Display Case - Help Needed!

I went through all Amazon and did not find any display case 48" wide. All are much smaller.
I wonder if it would work if you could angle the ship, that would reduce the width. Just look on Anazon for display cases with lights. They have a bunch listed. You may find one that would work.

Ship is 45" long. No way my case can be any shorter than 48" long.
I’ll keep looking, you might have to build your own. There are some YouTube tutorials that show you how. That’s the conclusion I’ve come to for my larger ships.

Hello Bug Doc , I just finished building the Flying Fish , is there any way I could see more pictures of your model of the Flying Fish .
Cheers Winova

You could try Premier Ship Models

They will provide self assembly base and frame cases in a variety of woods and finishes. You will need to source the glass or plexiglass yourself.

This case is 75 x 75 x 35 (cm)

Good luck, lyGo

Good recommendations for display cases and lighting from what appears to be a professional model building company.

Hello again BugDoc , the Flying Fish was a two year project for me as
my old body is slowing down, fortunately I turned ninety three
Dec.21 st, yesterday . Another Brigantine I hope to start in the coming
year if all goes well . I would like to see more photos of other clipper ships, barques, brigantines et cetera being made by Forum members
and also comments about their builds if any . These ships represent
a period during the great age of sail which seems to be lacking a
bit by present modelers.

There are lots of fine builds at Model Ship World. I am less familiar with them on this site's forum.

I've run into the same problem. I build large models of great lakes ships - think about a 730ft real world length ship at 1/200 or 1/92 scale.... we are talking around 46" long model. I looked high and low for an acrylic case to protect/display my models in..... There is not a lot out there on the retail market, so I feel your frustration!

I ended up finding a local industrial supply business that sells sheets (4 ft x 8ft) and had them cut it into 12" long x 48" wide sections, and then I did the final trimming, etc. on my own, including the adhesive, and made the wood base as well. Cuts great with a table saw or even made blocks and used a circular saw. Also, the first time I built a case, I got lucky that this place had remnants for like $10.00 ea and had enough I just had to do a little trimming and glue them together, and I had a respectable case to use at home.

It's not perfect by any means ( as in not something I'd put in a museum ), but works fine for displaying at home and protecting my builds.

That being said, I am going to check into the 2 mentions above by Rick and and the one in Brampton, as I am in Windsor, Ontario

Hi TJ. Just received my Duluth Seaway Port Authority calendar for 2026. Still in its box. Do you want it? If so, do you still have a Detroit Address to send it to?

Me too! Too many floating fortresses being modeled (my opinion).

Brigantines, too. I’ve never seen one modeled (although the first picture may be considered a schooner).
