I was a little suspect when I ordered the DSPIAE cutter from Aliexpress but I have to say I am in love with this little cutter. I have the Amati cutter which is plastic and not capable of getting consistent, repeatable cuts due to it's design that allows the handle (blade) to move side to side. This unit is way better and is a solid, mini cutter. What I like:

1)This thing is solid. Everything is made of aluminum and very well put together....no plastic parts.

2)The guides are all metal as well, clearly marked, and accurate. 45 angles are a breeze with this cutter.

3)Razor Blades are the standard, single side blades that you can buy anywhere. All you have to do is drill 2 holes in blades to match the blade that comes with the unit. I setup my jig and drilled 50 blades in about 30 minutes....I like to change blades often.

4)Well designed. Cutter is designed so that the actual cutting is about an inch or two from the base of the handle. The result is that there is no pinching or "scissor effect" from trying to cut from the base of the handle...the blade comes down in a straight angle to the wood. The result is the cleanest, sharpest cuts I have ever gotten.

5)Price. I paid about 60 bucks all in with shipping, etc. It took about 2 weeks for mine to show up and I was very impressed with the packaging.

Honestly guys, this is a great little cutter. If you like or make due with the Amati cutter, you will love this cutter.

Here is a comparison of the blade that comes with the unit (on right) and a standard single edge razor you can buy anywhere. (I removed the metal top or cover that comes on standard blade....it just pops off with a little prying) As you can see, you need to only drill the 2 holes and you will have infinite supply of cheap blades.

If you have any questions, let me know. No connection to company, etc.... I just love this cutter and wanted to share.

It looks great! What type of cutting mat they have? What are you going to do after it gets worn by the blade?

Good question...the mat is made of some kind of very hard rubber or something like that. Almost the texture and feel of a tire tread...even harder than that. I did buy the package that came with an additional mat. However, I have made 100-200 cuts and I do not see any damage to the mat...so, I'm not sure I will ever put in the extra one I have. I am very careful when I put in a new blade and I make sure the blade is set properly to the mat. I'm also guessing I could flip over the mat that is in place now....I have not tried that....right now, I just don't see it being an issue, but you can buy additional mats....I think they are 5 or 6 dollars.

I agree with you....I see several of their tools on Amazon that I want to try out. Do you have any favorites that you use a lot?
yes, I use extensively the mini rotary tool, it does not have a good torque, but I use it in small delicate drilling, mostly for the treenails. It is a precision tool! Originally, the tool accepted only 2.35mm shafts, but I incorporated an adapter to accept the very tinny drillbits 0.2, and 0.3mm. Also, I use a set of engravers.

Jim, where did you get the adapter?

It was selling on MicroMark for $9.00. I don't think they sell it anymore as I wanted to buy another one but couldn't find one. It is also gone from their catalog. Try the jewelry stores, I saw similar at that time, just a longer shaft but you can cut it, thought.

Hi Gene,

Here is what I found very similar to the one I have, the one on the top is a close match.

Gene This looks good. Amazon UK carries something that looks identical under the name Waytoll. It says however that it cuts plastic - sheet up to 1 mm. It doesn't mention wood. Can you cut wood on yours? Thank you - Rodric

Oh yes, on my unit I have cut up to 5 x 5mm wood planks. Normal planks 1-3mm are super easy.

I have used the bench top miter cut off saw from Harbor Freight (and other suppliers) for many years for the same purpose and have had great success with wood and metal tubing. It is less expensive than the hand tool. The trick is to replace the blade that comes with the saw with an abrasive cut off disc (readily available).

Thank e. That looks very attractive too. I’ll see how I get on with the Dspaie cutter then look at the saw if necessary. Rodric

Hi Rodric, I have just ordered the Dspaie from Aliexpress, amazing price of --- £6.03 delivered!
I have the saw, for which I made up a repeat cut stop. I also have a Proxxon KG50. Both are very good, the KG50 comes with abrasive blades which I changed out for saw blades, but with a slight mod to one side of the arbour on my lathe.

Hi Gene, I just looked this up on AliXpress, & was amazed at the price to UK £6-03 delivered!!!!!!!! About $8-00. It makes a change to get a VERY favourable price over here. Somebody must have made a good profit on the sale to you?
I have a shop built one, based on the NWSL model, which uses the same blade which is located using the notches in the blade, by the looks of it, I reckon I can fit the blades the same way, with a slight mod, I don't particularly fancy drilling razor blades - I still like to count to ten!

Thhanks again.. Could you tell us how you made the repeat stop: it’s a lack in all thesse cutters.

You must have been lucky with the price: when I looked it up it was £39. I made the mistake of ordering in the UK, where it costs a whole lot more.
