You have successfully been doing this during your conversation with me. The tricky part happens after you close Ships of Scale and then the next day you come back...
Where is your thread? In the bar near the top of the screen you will see a row that says: Home - Forums - What's New (etc). Click on the "Forums" tab and then the tab that says "Find Threads". It will default to "Your Threads" (the threads YOU created). Click on the one you want to open and then scroll to the bottom to find the place to make your next post.
I'm hoping this is all more helpful than confusing, Tommy. I'm doing my best to explain it...

After over a year off , I am back with a new project. My son gave me this kit for my birthday in August 2025.

Making the oars got me thinking maybe I could make a harpoon? Toothpick and a fishhook. It’s not terrible.
Another member said the designation “USS” is for military ships. Can you change my title to “SS-Essex” ? If not it’s ok. Thanks for the assist.
I might make a few more and lean them against something?
My sister told me I should dull the hook so no one gets hurt???? I told her no one should be touching my model. Lol

My first attempt at a “Hank”.
What a great idea. It was a new one for me, so thanks for posting about this. With so many hook sizes it is easy to get the right scale. I just tried one by snipping off the hook from the shank while cold and another one that was heated to cherry red. The latter is easier to cut but needs to be kept in the flame so a pain in the neck, but small hooks can be cut cold. The first room temperature one I tried went flying into the nether regions of the shop, but I captured the next try.

Drilling the hole in a toothpick isn’t very easy either. I watched a Moby Dick movie on YouTube a couple of nights ago. The harpoons don’t really look like that . Most people wouldn’t notice. I tried to make a couple that are more realistic. One with solder smashed flat and shaped. The other with some aluminum from a soda can. I’ll post a picture if they turn out.
