Ethan Builds With Grandpa

Today grandpa and I finished my first ship model. We put on the sticks and the sails. Here are some pictures:
Wow! Big congratulations, Captain Ethan (and your grandpa, of course)! You finished your very first model. What an amazing job! You should be super proud of yourself. It takes patience, focus, and creativity - and you’ve got all three! Can’t wait to see what you build next. Full speed ahead, captain!

Ethan -
First, congratulations on graduating from UPK! My Admiral retired last year after 46 years of teaching Kindergarten and UPK. I bet she would go back to work again if she knew she could have you in her class!

And your ship! She is absolutely beautiful! You even have the flags flying the right way - there are a lot of grown-ups that get that one wrong!

Two big accomplishments right in a row. You must be really proud. I'm certain that Grandpa is. I can't wait to read about your next adventure!

Grandpa is a bit of a fanatic about how I hold the cutters :

And I think sanding is very important:

I just blow the sanding dust off my fingers:

All the sticks are on:

Next, I cut out the sails all by myself. Grandpa says I have to take my time, but sometimes I just like to go fast:

Grandpa said I did a good job on the sails. You have to count to ten when you hold the glue:

Here I am with my new pirate ship model. I can't wait to take it home and show my dad.

Grandpa says he has more ship models I can work on if I want. Let's see if I ask him to make another one...

Thank you for reading about my pirate ship and for sending me nice messages. Grandpa read every one to me.

Lucky me that I didn’t have to wait very long to see the finishing of your model, Ethan. That looks very nice!
And congratulations with your Graduation. I enjoyed watching the video.
Up to a new model!
Regards, Peter

Kia Ora Ethan, congratulation on graduating from Pre-K and for leading the way on how to encourage others to take up the hobby from the get-go. Also for showing us the proper way to construct a pirate ship.
IMHO your post has been the bestest ever Build Log on this forum.
Jellybeans n Ice-Cream to you for a wonderful build. Cheers from Aotearoa down under.

Hi everyone!

Today grandpa and I started our second ship model. I picked this one because it is a glow-in-the-dark ghost ship! Grandpa says it is the paint that glows in the dark, but I don't understand because the box clearly shows a ship glowing in the dark.

Well, it turns out this kit is way too hard for me. There are too many pieces, and they are hard to cut out and even harder to put together. After about half an hour I asked grandpa if I could be done and he said yes.

Grandpa said that next time he would have the parts cut out and ready to go and I can just put the pieces together with his help.

Here is what we did today:

But now there is a problem - I am starting kindergarten very soon and that means I can't come to stay with grandma and grandpa during the week. After spending all of last week with grandpa on vacation he doesn't seem to be troubled by my limited visitation schedule - but grandma is very sad. Oh, grandpa says I can't sit next to Ellie anymore when we eat.

Anyway, I guess we will both just need to enjoy the time we get to work together and not be worried about how long it takes.

Thanks for visiting me and my glow-in-the-dark ghost ship!

Hi Ethan. Thanks for sharing your time with Grandpa on this forum with his many friends. We are all glad to see you and follow along as you build really nice models with your Grandpa. Some of us are grandpas too only some of our grandchildren are already all grown up! So, enjoy as much time with Grandma and Grandpa as you can while you are still little and life is more fun! :D

I want a glow in the dark ship too.

What a great job you're doing Ethan! Plus, you already have one ship to take into school for show-and-tell! When my Admiral was teaching kindergarten, each day had a different letter that your show-and-tell item had to start with. If your teacher does the same thing, you have to start thinking about all the letters your ship could start with - let's see, there "S" for Ship, "P" for Pirate ship, "M" for Model ship - you get the idea! And for the new one, you could use "G" for Glow-in-the-dark ship!

Ethan, you're so very lucky that you are the one that keeps Grandpa so happy! Think about it - he's happy when you arrive, he's happy on vacation with you, he's happy when you don't sit next to Ellie at dinner time, why, he's even happy when you go. See - Grandpa's ALWAYS happy and it's all because of you!

Good luck in kindergarten little buddy - your adventure awaits! Gold Star
