Thanks to all who responded.
Anxiously awaiting @rtwpsom2 ‘s update.
I’ve learned a lot from different points of view.
I know there can be a fine line between political posturing and genuine discourse.
I hope we don’t lose the later for the sake of the former.
My original intent was to try and navigate the kit purchase landscape with actual experience.
The actual discourse provided additional valuable insight.
I also fear that we in the US will be cut off from what clearly is the leading edge of kit design by the Chinese manufacturers.

Hi Dave, it’s clear you're trying to frame Bob’s comments as practical and economic, but... You are also repeating political framing and references to government policy, which is exactly the problem we are trying to keep out of the forum at any cost.
Jim, I agree on the “political framing” side.
However “government policy” is fact and could/would/should be a legitimate grounds for discussion ( IMHO ).

so what! there are many things at play here that have an effect on what we do in this hobby. Don't play deaf dumb and blind and think it is all ok we have to adjust our hobby to make it viable for everyone.
Dave, dismissing the issue with “so what,” oversimplifies the situation. There are indeed many factors influencing our hobby, and ignoring them doesn’t make them go away. If we want our hobby to thrive, we need to acknowledge those realities and adapt, not just for ourselves, but to ensure it remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone. That said, SOS is a hobby forum, not a political platform; we cannot and should not try to influence politics here.

Folks,
We are not going any further on this one. What is being discussed is more in line with business structures and how businesses operate in the current political economic environment.

Of which I understand the concern, but the concern should really be on a personal level. Lets get one thing clear. There is nothing none of us can do about tariffs, taxes, Customs and Border Control. And to bring it up does nothing but up heave divisions and controversies.

If any of you are worried about to buy a model or not from China or who knows where in the world, then you need to contact the manufacture and the company and ask them or complain to them. This topic does nothing for this forum.

Dave, you operate a business, then operate that business how you run your business, and to not think the whole world operates in the same manner.

Bob, you do well in speaking your mind, but sometimes, a little can go a long way.

Jim is very fair in his observation, we should take note of it.
