The distance of the notches are determined by the distance between the rafters and is discribed in the book. The same technique was used in the past on the real ships.

In the meantime this thread is catching up with the status of my progress.
The frames are provided with a slot for the inner keel. I had to make this by hand. The milling machine was not able to reach it.

In the meantime all the rafters are in place and I make the inner keel. The spaces are made with a Proxxon milling machine. Due to the tolerance of the rafters I determined the places of the rafters with a pencil while the inner keel was laying in the ship. So I did not work with theoretical measerements.

Besides the earlier mentioned book there is an other book which had inspired me to build this model.
The man who build the replica had written a book of the whole process. This book is filled with very clear detaildrawings and lots of detailled pictures. Without this book and tips from the author it was not possible for me to make this build.

The inner keel in front of the ship has a difficult shape. When I made this I had no tools to determine the shape. So I made a tool with toothpics:

With this it was possible to make the front part of the inner keel:

I had to make is twice. The first one had a spot in the wood. In the early days in real they insert a so called “half wood” in it. I was thinking to do it likewise, but the result was no good so I made a new one.

The beams are not yet shapened on the right height. I am going to do this later and determine the right height with a stroke of thin wood. With a small saw I can make them on the right height. The surface of the building rig is exact waterlinie 5, so it should be no problem to locate the exact point.

Oak is having a rough structure. Boxwood is finer. I think of making the small parts in Boxwood or pear.

To determine the right line of the upper parts of the beams I placed a small and thin stroke of wood. In this way it is possible to assess it properly the right line of the ship.

I have made the foundation for the engine.
In the early days the engine was in the middle of the ship, this is a model of the replica of this ship. On the replica the engine is in the back.

as the build is already in a further stage I will place updates until the current stage. After that the updates will be fewer.
The supporting construction for the deckbeams is ready. This construction is provided with savings for the frames. As these carriers following the shape of the hull they are limited in length. Also, if the length is too long the thread of the wood (proper English?) is not following the shape of the carrier.

The deckbeams in the real ship are placed in 20mm deep dovetails in this construction. This to prevent deforming the frames and make a sturdy construction. As on this scale this dovetails will be 1 mm deep and it is no longer vissible I am going to place the beams direct on the frames.

These frames are in dutch named “balkwegers”.

It is fascinating to follow your log. I think it is really a challenge to build the model from oak.
