French war-ship Saint-Philippe 1693 - scale 1/72 - from Lemineur monograph [COMPLETED BUILD]
Five gun-ports done :
Twelve gun-ports done about fourteen (not glued) :
The three last rear guns are transformed into picked pieces for making the drop on down-ship easier :
With help of a paper frame, I hope to obtain perhaps an acceptable esthetic result for my bulwark's garlands :
Wait and see...
Test of five garlands of bullwarks, which will be also used as frames for the other side :
Symmetric duplicata of the bulwark's garlands, before small finitions, then gluing the twelve parts in right place :
All bulwark's garland glued each side (no sun for photo (darkly lighted with poor quality) :
A bright sunlight for these two pictures, with a smartphone, it's not the easiest way to get something beautiful :
Evening pic :
Down view on the built of hidden first battery (this step will continue with eight rear picked guns down ship) :
I prepared a photographic modelisation of a rail with repetitive draws to be cut in 0.5 mm thick birch plywood :
Last simulation, it seems to me more compatible with rear part of ship, and the style is right for Louis XIV time :
For the front upper decoration rail of beakhead, I think use the same but without their middle hanging parts :
After some small dimensional adjustments, at end I shall copy a warm wooden color with a natural bee wax :
A royal symbol, just for the fun :
Soft evening sunlight, just right for my limited smartphone :
All forward rails glued, and waxed :
The today little post card :
