i have yet to start my Grand Banks dory but i am interested in buying more clamps. The ones supplied are 2” clamps, so I was thinking of the same size. Where would be a good place to get additional clamps? I might use micro-mark. What other sizes are good to start with? Ty.

Check Harbor Freight for all sizes of black plastic spring clamps, I have about 4-5 sizes for various uses, also common clothes pins can often be used or modified for special uses.
I got some of these at the big box orange store...
I also use binder clamps (mostly for planking) that you can get from an office supply store.

Modeling tools are where you find them, especially clamps. Anything that can squeeze two pieces together can be a clamp. Spring loaded wooden clothes pins, spring binder clamps for clamping stacks of paper, V shaped spring clamps, C clamps, all have their uses. You may even find useful stuff in the manicure section of your local drug store. Shop around!

Amazon literally has Everything.
One can make very simple and inexpensive planking clamps from various diameters of threaded rod, washers appropriately sized to the job at hand, and nuts.
The advantage of this type of clamp is that it gets into tight spaces, between framing, and you can apply much greater localized pressure than conventional spring clamps.
In this hobby, you can never have enough clamps or types of clamps.

I've had excellent results with these in areas that are tough to get to, almost indispensable. They are a little strong so be careful how you clamp up.
Ohla Batchvarov and I both use those clamps. The long ones are especially useful. Since the clamps are light, they don't fall lose their grip and fall off like metal clamps, which is especially irritating when you have 10 clamps on the model holding a long wood strip in place.

Harbor freight has them dirt cheap. Also clothes pins are great. Binder clips are another great idea and can be modified to help clamp during planking.

I really like the smaller version of these, which are a little under two inches mouth by about 5 inches bar.
