I am in the midst of preparing for a trip of a lifetime--an expedition to Antarctica in December. To prepare for this trip I have been reading dozens of books about the continent (I do tend to over prepare for these things), the best of which was Alfred Lansing's account of the famed adventure of Ernest Shackleton on the Endurance. So, just the other day I suddenly had the idea that it would be fun to build a model of his ship and that is why I am here.
Since I haven't done any modeling since I was a kid, I am really not sure where to start. From what I have seen, the Endurance might be a bit of a complicated build and I am thinking that it would be a good idea to start with something simpler to develop the necessary skills. I have seen several recommendations for the three ship starter kit by Model Expo, but I suspect there are other alternatives as well. From what I have seen so far, there does seem to be a wealth of information on this site, but if anyone has any specific recommendations or general advice, I would love to hear it. This looks like a great site and I feel lucky to have stumbled across it.
