Guillows P-38 Lightning

Finished the P-43…clear coat is not completely dry, so it’s a little shiny in a few spots. I had fun with the exhaust and turbo underneath the airplane, I painted it to look heat cycled.
Anyway…here are the pics…

Then it was placed on the second shelf next to the P-47D. The other P-47D it replaced got moved to another shelf.

Now for the complete WW2 collection thus far…

Well…I think I need a break from 1/72 scale airplanes for a while. ;)

And I fed my squirrels…

This is only a few of them… there is a big family in the woods behind my house. I used to hear owls all the time, but not lately, so the squirrel population is growing fast! ROTF

Good morning Dean. OH Boy your “ADHD” has taken over this log of the P38. I think you should rename it a collage of WW1 and WW2 planes. ;). Fun to read though and some nice additions to your collections. Cheers Grant
Thanks... I didn't want to create 10 build logs and show every step for the 1/72 aircraft, so I just was keeping everyone up to date on what I have been working on. I did however get around to testing how I will cover the P-38, and it looks promising! Now I have to get back to covering the Nacelle for the left side of the P-38...

Ps - I am the real ricochet rabbit! ROTF

I wanted to share that I found some rare 1/72 scale WW2 models... Heinkel 112 V10, Boulton Paul Balliol T.2 and a Seversky P-35. Glad to be adding them to my collection. I have almost all of the more popular aircraft, and will now have to be on the lookout for more rare aircraft. ;) But I still have many in boxes to keep me busy in the future. ;)
It is now time to get out the P-38 and resume covering it with wood...

I like that blueing vey much!

Quick update on the WWII airplanes…I have added a Stuka, Sturmovik, Wildcat, P-40, and about 6 other airplanes. So it continually grows as I have time to build an airplane here and there.
I have to get back to the P-38 soon!
A few pics…

I still have 10 more kits to build in 1/72 scale. Finding something I don’t already have is becoming harder. ROTF

your aircraft skills are every bit as good as the ship models if not better.

Your collection is simply fantastic Dean. I think Kurt my be on to something, a photo essay sent as a type of presentation so others outside our group may find inspiration. Hmm…

Your collection would put most avaition museums to shame.
Thanks Kurt, it’s not complete by any means, there are many more to add! Bombers are going to be added, I have some dive bombers already, but a B-17 and B-52 will definitely be added. ;) And I have at least 4 more WW1 aircraft to add, probably many more. And my fighter jets are just beginning to be added. So eventually I will have to address more shelves!

Thanks Ted, aircraft models were my first love growing up.

Thanks Daniel, I may just have to take the time to create a log to show a picture of each aircraft with the name under the photo. I can categorize by WW1, WW2 and fighter jets that followed. ;)
Perhaps that would encourage others to share their collection.

A few side views…
