Hi all

I will start to built the Gunboat Philadelphia from 1776. It is a Model shipways kit in scale 1:24. The quality is excellent. I have joined, on Facebook the Olha Batchvarov group built of this kit. I will be posting here my advance.

For history about this gunboat refer to :

Let start:

The bottom of the ship is made by 2 half sections glued together. The false keel that support the bulkheads was assembled (comes in 3 pieces) and glued over the bottom section. Then the #1 to #8 bulkheads were assembled and glued. They come in 2 pieces (zoom the pictures to see a left and right piece). You need to square them very well. #1 to #3 bulkheads were leveled before gluing them.

Interesting project, I will follow as you build progresses ;)
You can watch the project on the YouTube page as well for free, to see what is being shown to us to follow.

I hope to post my start in a day or two, as I have three days of taking my son to "Special Olympics" where he does bowling completion, like the AC inside versus the track events outside on a hot Oklahoma May.

As I wrote before, I did some beveling of the first 3 bulkheads on Stern and Bow sections before gluing them, following the laser marks. Now I am working on the final fairing, sanding by hand, as Olha did today. First testing on the side I finished. I used a 0.5 mm plank to check the contact among bulkheads. I Will continue later. Cheers !!!

Did you watch episode #2 today, I caught it after the live stream was over, looks like she was having a bad day.

I liked the way she fixed the issue with bottom sheet of ship.

Luckily I checked my kit and both halves seem to be identical in width and length.

Yes, I watched during the day.

I have my bulkheads cut out and about ready to sand and assembly, will start my build log this weekend I hope.

Got back Friday from three days with my son at OK Special Olympics, where he got a Silver in bowling.

Made my week go by fast with all the things dealing with team travel.

Fairing process finished.

For sanding, to reduce the risk of braking the bulkheads, I used this sanding block that has "rounded" ends and is very comfortable to handle.
