Hayling Hoy by Roger J

Thank you for the kind words it is more jump from one thing to another when i get stuck than methodical
The rudder is proving more trouble than expected the phot etch hinges are far to long (that is a simple fix) but when folded the gap is about 1mm too wide so i am
considering the easy fix and putting a filler strip under them or looking for alternative hinges
Stuck some decorative detail on the head the laser cutting is quite amazing instant result with very little effort

I have fitted the channels for the deadeyes there is no guide to where they should fit so i sanded the mast and used a line to put them where they seemed sensible
When i fit the deadeyes and chain plates i don't know if the chain plates go down vertically or follow the angle of the shrouds so any advise would be appreciated

Hi Roger
What did you use to make the square head bolts in the chain plates?
Thank you
Allan

I've started liking small ships more and more.. they can be worked out in great detail in a normal scale. You're doing a great job!

Fitted the bowsprit in the end i just used wood dye to darken it to match the mast as near as i could
I decided the cleats in the kit would be to delicate for for me to clean up so i purchased aftermarket ones from Dry-Dock models and parts the quality is far beyond any thing i could produce

Super work Roger, very clean! I agree with Grant, the new rope is much more realistic.
